Every country has its own customs - and destination weddings are no exception
When couples start dreaming about getting married in Italy, they often imagine beautiful villas, vineyards and breathtaking views….sometimes on platforms like Airbnb or other rental websites, and it’s easy to see why, Italy is full of breathtaking properties that seem the perfect setting for a wedding celebration.
However, there’s one aspect that many international couples don’t immediately realize: every country has different regulations when it comes to hosting events: in some places organizing a celebration in a private rental property may be relatively simple.
In Italy, things work a little differently.
Some villas are registered exclusively as tourism accommodations. They are perfect for holidays, but not necessarily authorised to host events such as weddings, even symbolic weddings.
This doesn’t mean the place isn’t wonderful.
It simply means that local regulations may require specific permissions or event licenses.
Understanding these details early in the planning process can make a big difference, helping couples avoid unexpected complications and ensuring that the wedding day unfolds smoothly.
Planning a destination wedding in Italy is a beautiful journey, but doing it discerningly is one of the most important steps.
If you are currently exploring venues for your Italian wedding and have questions about what is possible - and what requires special permissions - feel free to reach out.
