You don’t win everyday,
Because on some days you lose,
You can’t get over the line,
And the demons in your mind take over,
And your battles lay incomplete,
And you find a corner to hide in,
To be able to cry,
And you laugh a bit too much,
So no one could make out that you don’t want to,
And you pretend to be positive,
So no one could identify that you aren’t,
And you watch the darkness creep in once again,
And you learn to just hide the pain,
Somewhere within you,
For you know that there are somedays,
When you lose.
But then,
As long as you stand there,
Staring far into the horizon,
As long as you’re breathing and alive,
As long as you can wait for another day,
Do know that even though you’ve lost,
It’s not the end,
For you’re there,
Still standing,
Still surviving,
Still staring into the dying light,
And somewhere a voice within you says,
That light will be back again.
And you’ll walk ahead,
To better places.
