The brief was simple, it was a July wedding, and we wanted to bring the outdoors in. But more than that, we wanted to move away from the usual idea of a mandap and create something that felt familiar, intimate and deeply like home. 🌸

We kept coming back to a very specific feeling, the calm of walking into a South Indian home in the early morning. The quiet, the greens, the brass, the silver, the little details that aren’t planned to match, but somehow belong together. 🪷

So, instead of a conventional mandap, we created one with an Athangudi tile-inspired print, surrounded by layers of greens. The props were intentionally a mix of brass and silver, just as you might find in a home collected over time, each piece with its own character.

We pulled an all-nighter setting up the wedding. And then, around 6 in the morning, as the first light came in, something shifted. The space suddenly felt different. Peaceful. Quiet. Familiar.

It felt like home.🪷

And then came the details that made it theirs.

A Pallanguli game, a little nod to the one Pratik grew up playing with his grandmother. Ritual booklets carrying motifs hand-painted designs Shruti’s mother used to paint on handkerchiefs. Petals tucked into simple leaf bowls instead of the usual petal cones. And hand-drawn kolams made fresh that morning and so many more details wpven together that we cant wait to share, it’s not the grand gestures that make a wedding feel personal. It’s the little things that already mean something to you, finding their way into the space.
