ritual in which the groom's mother
pours mustard oil at the corners of
the entrance to the house ✨

The newly wedded couple steps into
their home with their right foot first
signifying a proper beginning of all
things in their lives. The bride kicks
the mustard oil that is at the sides of
the entrance door with her right foot
before she enters her new home. She
is welcomed by the grooms family. Some games are also then played post these celebrations for fun!

After completing all the important wedding rituals, it's the time for some fun activities ✨
During the wedding, a Joota Chupai or shoes stealing ceremony is performed during which unmarried sisters and cousin-sisters of the bride steal the groom's shoes and ransom them back for money or gifts. Further, a Bidaai ceremony takes place, the bride is taken to her home after the pheras & kanyadaan. After the Bidaai, a couple of wedding takes place at the groom's house. It might be combined with the mooh-dekhai.

In Hindu and Sikh weddings, the Groom is led to the marriage venue in a procession known as the Baraat. In Sikh Tradition, the Groom arrives wearing a sahara and saafa while carrying a kirpan. He is accompanied by family members, groomsmen, and friends known as baraatis.
The use of a Ghodi, or white horse, as transport for the Groom to the wedding venue is a common part of Indian tradition. Family members adorn the Ghodi with embellishments to match the groom as all eyes are on the two as they make their way through the procession.

The music during a Baraat sets the mood for the rest of the marriage event, with upbeat and exciting songs blasting as the Groom makes his way through the procession. Most DJ’s will have a portable sound system as well as a Dhol player. ✨💃🏻

Sehra Bandi: is the ceremony where the groom’s face is covered by tying a multi-stranded garland to his paghadi.
“Sehra” is the actual garland headgear and “Bandi” means to tie.

Typically the groom's mother, sisters, female cousins, Bhabhi or sister-in-law are the essential performers of Sehra Bandi. In the case of multiple sisters or female relatives, each woman takes a turn to perform the ritual one by one. While carrying out this whole custom, all the women sing traditional wedding songs.

For functions wise, Bride chooses the following:
1) Mata ki Chownki- traditional outfits
2) Mehndi- Could be traditional or fusion
3)Sangeet & cocktails- Could be gowns & cocktail stitched sarees
4) Wedding Pheras- Traditional Lehnga/ saree is selected with an added, heavy dupatta for the forehead. Custom tailoring is also done, if the bride wishes too & add her own personal touch.

The love story lehnga; where you embroider your own love story, as how & where the couple met, or can also use her Moms dupatta, or blouse to give the emotional touch to her wedding pheras outfit.
