People often think having standards in music means being rigid. But for me, it has never been about ego or control. It’s about a certain sound, a certain atmosphere, a certain emotional honesty that resonates after decades of listening, digging, collecting, and playing music. At the same time, having a strong musical identity doesn’t mean being closed. The other day, a random message came through from a guy wanting me to contribute to his podcast project he was working on. I agreed.. During the conversation, he mentioned that he also made music. Curious, I asked him to send it..
I listened to it on the spot and instantly connected with the feeling behind it.. Without overthinking, I blended it into my set live during the party.. It became one of those rare moments where music stops being entertainment and becomes emotion, memory, space, and connection all at once.
That, to me, is what DJing is truly about.
A DJ is not just someone who plays tracks. A DJ is a bridge connecting music created in intimate personal spaces to real human energy on a dancefloor, through instinct, spontaneity, trust, and timing.
What made this moment even more special was the meaning behind the song.
For my international friends listening. the opening lyrics in Hindi say:
“Hum pahadon ki waadiyon mein yun chale,
ke khud ko khudi se bhula chuke…”
“We wandered through the valleys of the mountains,
until we forgot ourselves completely.”
born during a journey through Spiti called “The Healing Highway” — inspired by the silence, stillness, and emotional clarity the mountains can bring. And honestly, you can feel that in the music.
The song speaks about love, surrender, healing, and losing the noise of the ego long enough to reconnect with something deeper inside yourself.
Beautiful music.
Beautiful energy.
Beautiful moment.
