This one's gonna be in English. Don't give up, it's worth it ๐
I was fortunate enough to organize a tasting event earlier this week in Chashmonaim. The evening's concept was "Wine & Food Pairing" and WOW, was this a delight!
We discussed basic wine tasting techniques, as well as congruent vs. contrasting pairings and some basic W&F pairing guidlines.
Revi'it partnered with ืงืืืืฉ - Boutique Wine in order to promote boutique, kosher wineries and Steak Master, Binyamin Glanz, who's title says it all.
We started with Pulled Brisket Tacos, paired with Jezreel Valley Winery ืืงื ืขืืง ืืืจืขืื's Pet-Nat. It was fun seeing how the acidity and light bubbles paired with this dish.
We moved on to a Denver cut, perfectly spiced and seared in a cast-iron pan. We drank the 2021 Jezreel Valley Winery ืืงื ืขืืง ืืืจืขืื Syrah AND the Blessed Valley Chardonnay by Gush Etzion Winery-ืืงื ืืืฉ ืขืฆืืื - both paired beautifully, the Syrah with it's pronounced black pepper aroma and the Chard with it's crisp acidity and smooth, buttery finish. They were crowd favorites.
Moving on to the Entrecote, reversed-seared and cooked to perfection. This wine paired well with the 2020 Naboriah by Eviatar Vineyard ืืจื ืืืืชืจ - a nice, purple, full-bodied Bordeaux blend.
For our last meat course, Binyamin blew us away with a gorgeous, smoked Picanha (see pic below) which he then seared to get that famous fatty layer to it's ultimate level of yumminess. I chose the delicious 2019 Gilgamesh by ืคืืืฉืืืื, a blend of no less than SIX different varieties AND the Ramon Cardova 2018 Rioja Riserva, Old Vines. The latter's smoky aroma paired wonderfully with this awesome cut of meat.
Last, but certainly not least, ืืฉืืงืืื ืฉื ืืืืืื knocked it out of the park with one of the best tasting dessert platters I've had in a long time. An assortment of beautifully designed chocolates, cookies, jello cups and more... Do yourselves a favor and place an order, you'll see what I mean! We paired this with the 2020 City of David from ืืงื ืืื ืืืืื, a pleasant, Port-tasting wine with only 13%. This is a great option for a lower-alcohol dessert wine.
All in all, a FANTASTIC time was had by everyone. We ate, drank, laughed and learned.
Looking forward to the next one ๐ฅ๐ท๐ฅ๐ท
