It’s easy to get distracted by the shiny things. As the wedding comes closer, the more bells and whistles get added.

“Will our guests have fun?”
“Will people be entertained?”
“Will it be the best?”

In all honesty, the best weddings are the ones where love is the shiny thing. The rest falls by the wayside when you do the things you want, in the way you want. When you are filled with joy, the rest doesn’t really matter at all.

What does it mean to be truly sustainable in the wedding industry? This is a subject matter close to our hearts, which is why it had to be one of the very first chapters in this series. Doing the box-ticking basics just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Wedding days are one moment in time, a very special moment, and we feel the responsibility to guarantee our couples can celebrate without leaving behind a big, muddy footprint. Little compromises that make a big difference.

More. More. More.

Somewhere along the way, weddings have become about excess. Just like the millions of pieces of social media content posted online every single day. It’s all become too much. At Horetown House, we’ve decided to press pause on it. Sustainability, to us, feeds into how we show up online as well as on the ground.

We’re taking a slow social approach to our content, which means fewer posts but better quality. Things that matter to us here and that really show how we are. It is a risk because we’re all caught up in the algorithms. But honestly, we’re so excited to pair things back and give you a reason to tune in every two weeks (or so) to some of our story, straight from the heart.

We’ll be sharing more soon (but not too much more).
