Important Update ✨
You may have noticed my ew page name:
Brenda & Peterina Grealis – Harp & Voice for Weddings & Ceremonies. ,,for solo performances only
I have been going through some health issues over the past while, and because of this and under medical advice ’ve needed to step back from performing. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive family snd friends during this time. I am also blessed with an incredible care team.
Over the past while, Peterina my daughter has offered to help me more, anf she hss also worked with the incredible members of Celtic Strings Ensemble have been more than just musical friends. Their dedication, teamwork and kindness have meant so much and have helped me get through a very challenging period. Celtic Strings Ensemble will continue as normal i cannot perform myself but the group has so many skilled and talented members. This condition has effected my voice, mobility and hands but im staying positive. So many people fight battles on a daily basis. My thoughts are with you all.
I am currently going through all my couples and contacting everyone personally, starting with those who are nearest to their dates. Please be assured that every couple will have full musical cover for their day. I will continue to handle all enquiries, planning and arrangements from behind the scenes.
Peterina my daughter who has been studying harp, guitar and voice from a very young age and performing with me for years, will be taking on more of the performances together with our wonderful Celtic Strings Ensemble colleagues. I am so thankful to everyone for their messages of support. I appreciate it so much. There is so much kindness in people.

Please Read: Important Update & a Heartfelt Thank You. (Apologies for long post also)
I wasn’t sure whether to post this, but after some advice from profeddionsls and a lot of thought, I felt it was important to update you all on what has been happening lately and to give my clients reassurance.
Over the past two years my health has changed, and in recent months my voice, mobility and hand strength have been affected. Because of this, I am taking a step back from performing to focus fully on my health and to follow the advice of my wonderful care team. It’s not an easy decision, but it’s something I must do.
I want to be clear that I’m not looking for sympathy — just understanding, and to keep everyone properly informed and couples reassured and avoid confusion

I am currently going through my 2026 and 2027 /2028 diaries and personally contacting all of my couples individually.
Please know that:
⭐ Every booking already made is safe
⭐ I am arranging the best possible musicians for every ceremony and event
⭐ All booking fees will be refunded.
I want to reassure everyone that my daughter Peterina, who has been singing and playing music especially harp for years (often alongside me), will continue performing in my place. She will be joined if nedded by the incredibly talented members of Celtic Strings Ensemble, and I am so grateful for their kindness, support, and willingness to help me at this time. We have other wonderful harpists in the group also. I am grateful to Peterina for offering to help me and all the other musicians who are also helping me out

A massive thank you to my amazing family, my wonderful neighbours, and my fantastic music friends — especially the incredible members of Celtic Strings Ensemble who have gone out of their way to support me. Your kindness means the world to me.
A very special thank you also to my fabulous harp friends (you know who you are) for stepping in to help at short notice these past few months. You are an incredible bunch.

To anyone else going through health challenges:
My thoughts are with you.
This experience has opened my eyes to what so many people quietly deal with every day. I feel very grateful to be surrounded by loving people and the brilliant medical professionals in Castlebar Hospital who have and continue looking after me so well.
I remain positive, and I don’t give up easily.
We all have our own struggles, and I send my love to anyone facing difficult times right now.
Music has never been “just a job” to me — it is something I truly love. But for now, I must follow the professionals’ advice.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for your patience, understanding, and support during this time and throughout the years.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Celtic String Ensemble Fundraising Concert scheduled for Friday, 14th November at Ballintubber Abbey has been postponed until further notice.

💛 Why We’re Doing This Concert 💛

Our upcoming Celtic Strings Ensemble & Friends Charity Concert at Ballintubber Abbey on Friday, November 14th is more than just an evening of music — it’s an evening of love, remembrance, and hope.

We’re performing to support two very special causes close to our hearts — one of them is Jamie’s Echo.

❤️ Jamie’s Story ❤️
Jamie was born on April 30th, 2023 — a beautiful baby boy who filled his parents , with pure joy from the moment he arrived. Shortly after his birth, they were told that Jamie had Down Syndrome. Though the news came as a surprise, they embraced him instantly with love and pride, determined to give him the happiest life possible.
Jamie spent the first two weeks of his life in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Mayo University Hospital, where he quickly became a little star — adored by everyone who met him. When he came home after those two weeks, his parents were overjoyed to introduce their beautiful boy to family and friends.
For the next two months, Jamie was a healthy, happy baby — full of smiles and love. But tragically, on the night of June 29th, everything changed. Jamie suddenly became unresponsive, and despite the incredible efforts of the teams in Mayo University Hospital and Crumlin Children’s Hospital, he passed away the following day, June 30th, just two months old. He died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) — also known as cot death. 💔
In the midst of their heartbreak, Jamie’s parents wanted to do something meaningful — something that would carry his light forward and help other babies in his memory. And so, Jamie’s Echo was born.
Together with the SCBU team, they set out to fund a dedicated Echo machine — a piece of equipment that allows vital heart scans for newborns to be carried out in Mayo, without the need to transfer fragile babies to Galway.
The cost of this life-saving machine is around €100,000, and thanks to the incredible kindness of the community, over €85,000 has already been raised.
Jamie’s Echo is a symbol of love — proof that even the smallest lives can leave the biggest legacies. 💛

Spotlight on Kieran Lehehan – Guitarist
One of our talented members of Celtic Strings Ensemble, Kieran Lenehan is a highly experienced and accomplished guitarist who has been immersed in music since the age of 5 — and playing guitar for over 30 years!
His preferred style is instrumental fingerstyle acoustic guitar, where he brings popular songs to life through expressive and soulful arrangements.

Spotlight on one of our wonderful guest artists for our upcoming concert in Ballintubber Abbey on November 14th, supporting Mayo Cancer Support and Jamie’s Écco.
Raúl’s musical journey began at a young age, inspired by his parents’ love of music. From an early age, he took part in numerous vocal festivals and appeared on two television programmes. He also performed in a special concert for Teleton, a charity supporting children and adults with special needs.
