Live painting Martina & Patrick’s love story along the wild atlantic way ✨

A glimpse back to June celebrating such a beautiful couple. I loved spending the day painting at Connemara Coast Hotel, just up the road from my studio.

Congratulations again to you both and thank you for having me!

Oil on canvas
40 x 50 cm.

Some nice words from Sinéad and Kieran! Such a lovely setting to paint for their day in April at the Falls Hotel and Spa...

One of my favourite steps, adding the final gloss varnish✨

Oil paint takes a bit longer to dry than other mediums, so I wait several weeks between finishing the painting and varnishing. But the wait is always worth it to bring out the depth and richness of colour that oils are known for ❤️

Varnishing also protects against UV and dust!

Why don’t I finish a live painting on the wedding day? So that I can spend time in the studio refining all the little details, like this lion statue from Clontarf Castle ✨

Live painting during the wedding is when I get to paint the atmosphere, excitement and emotion of the day, while the studio touch-ups after give me time to slow down and bring all those details together into the finished piece.
