My favourite photos are always the ones that aren’t posed. It could be of the couple, it could be of the guests, it could be of the set up. But the photo itself speaks a thousand words. Of the anticipation, a whispered moment between mother and child, the party that’s yet to unfold, the aftermath.

I have the privilege and honor of planning some of the most beautiful weddings and lucky enough to get an inside seat to these magical days.

This one was no different, so here are some of my favourite captured moments.

Remember I was chatting about wanting two different themes for my baby shower, and how it would only work if we worked with two separate spaces? This is what we did for the Amalfi Coast section - the blues and yellows and whites.

For the first part of the day I wanted it light and breezy, finger foods and shot walls, photobooths and tarot readers.

I had gift bags hung in a gelato cart for every guest and worked closely with catering so that even the cones that the nibbles came in matched the theme.

I customised the hand fans, and made sure there were plenty of large shells to add to the decor, a nod to the coastal vibes.

Standing here you’d never guess that the dinner was a totally different theme all together - because you couldn’t see it despite being in the same venue. And that’s exactly how it should be when you love everything but have to keep things tidy 😉

Decision fatigue - it’s a thing.
I totally understand because I had it when planning my baby shower.

Often it’s when you can’t decide what look you want to go for because you love more than one. Or, you’re struggling to decide on a vendor because the two you’re choosing between are both amazing.

When I was planning my baby shower I knew for sure I loved two themes. One was the blues and yellows of an Amalfi Coast look. One was the vibrant reds and greens often associated with large Italian feasts.
I was like a deer in headlights not knowing which direction to go when suddenly it was like well - why not both? And so I did both 😆

However to make this work, a couple things had to be cemented.

Firstly, I knew I couldn’t mix them together - the colors and themes did not marry well, so I had to ensure each theme was for a different part of the day.

Secondly, the venue had to have two separate areas so that the themes couldn’t be seen from either area.

In the end we had the cocktails and canapés in the Amalfi theme in the back garden of the venue, and the rich Italian colors for the dinner by the pool, and it worked perfectly!

Let’s talk bridal party for a moment.
There’s always the talk of whether you’ll have them or not, and if you do, how many?

Some keep it to exactly who they want, even if that turns out to be an odd number.
For others, keeping numbers even is important so they’ll always have them in 2s, 4s and so on.

But what does this mean for photos?

If you have an odd number of bridesmaids or groomsmen, then when you have your photos with just your bridal party - no partner - there will be no center person. The bride or groom will always be on one side unless you get creative with positioning but even then, one side will be bridal party dominant. However, when your partner joins, this works out perfectly because the odd numbers ensure you are both center stage with your loved ones fanning out.

If you’re in the even number group, your solo shots with your bridal gang ensures you’re always front and center, while your bridesmaids or groomsmen are evenly balancing the shot on each side.
When it comes to group photos though, you’ll have the similar effect mentioned above - unless of course the number of bridesmaids and groomsmen differ! Then it’ll work out the same way as the first example.

There is no wrong or right with this, and personally? I love asymmetry. But the only advice I’ll give and the only thing you should really focus on is who you want by your side. The number is irrelevant.
Make sure they are the people who know and love you best, want to see you happy, and love you and your partner as a couple.
You want that good energy to follow you for the rest of your marriage so make sure you pick the people you still want by your side on your 30th wedding anniversary!

Cocktail hour can sometimes be daunting for couples because they worry their guests will have nothing to do, or will be standing around for ages while the newlyweds are away for photos.

This is not the case. In fact, a well thought out cocktail hour can set the tone for a very fun-filled evening if you combine these three crucial ingredients:

1. Assorted seating. Don’t just stick to standing tables or just lounges. Mix it up. Add chairs with backing. Throw in some stools.
Everyone has different needs and ensuring all guests are catered for keeps people happy.
Elderly or pregnant? They’ll need the chairs with the backs on them. Wearing heels? They’ll definitley need to sit on the sofa for a while. Any man ever? They don’t sit - it must be biological or something I don’t know, but they loveeee having a standing cocktail table to park their drink on. And of course stools, so their partners can join but in comfort!

2. Immersive activities. Give them things to do! Chit chat will be a given, but when there are the added options to combine with chatter, you’ll find people relax more and those who have never met each other will have a higher chance of mingling.
Think lawn games, selfie mirrors, close-up magic, audio guestbooks or photobooths.

3. Good quality, fast paced food and drinks. It’s paramount to have a bar that pumps out the drinks with multiple servers to ensure everyone is with drink in hand, and not milling around the bar. Similarly, having a wide range of canapés and/or food stalls will keep your guests satiated and comfortable so that by the time dinner comes, no one is absolutely wasted and no one is starving and grumpy.

Tick all three of the above and you’ll have a cocktail hour no one wants to leave!

If you’re umming and ahhing between a big lavish wedding because that’s what’s expected of you, or an intimate luxe elopement because it feels more “you”, I hope you take these next few images as inspo.

This amazing couple have stuck by me for the past couple years now.
Initially we had planned for the large, all-out celebration with a live band, top tier catering, plentiful bar…the works. But after a pause on planning, they came back to me with what felt more meaningful to them. And that was a quiet but lavish ceremony for them and their two precious girls. No one to keep happy but themselves. No one to feel pressured to invite or defer to. No constant chatter in their ear of what they should or shouldn’t be doing for their wedding.

We were blessed with the most stunning day on the cliff tops of what will soon be a private development, so having access to it as one of the last to be married there was extra special.

Don’t get me wrong. I loveeee a big fat wedding, it’s so much fun!
But honestly, these elopements with all the trimmings hit you in the feels, and I want this to be a reminder to all couples. Don’t feel guilty for doing it YOUR way. If you want an elaborate 200-guest affair, go for it.
If smaller feels right to you, then do what your heart tells you to do.
You’re supposed to feel happy and at ease on your special day, so go with your gut and you’ll always have a day to look back on that you fall in love with all over again.

Fun fact: I STILL don’t use ChatGPT or AI when it comes to writing my emails, captions for Instagram or updating our blog.
And I’m proud of that.

With so many people now just typing in a few keywords into chatbots to create their content, I feel good knowing everything I write - mistakes and all - are authentically my own.

I know there’s a very real and very important place for the rise of AI, and absolutely feel it’s essential with planning now. Especially when it comes to envisioning your day, the layout, fun additions you may not have thought of, and finessing the run sheet.
It’s a time saver with auto responses to enquiries and can speed up your searches when trying to find specific items for your day.

But when it comes to connecting with my clients - I keep it all ME. And i think that’s why we attract the kinds of couples that we do.
Couples who are seeking a purpose-filled and authentic human experience to share with their loved ones.
Another beating heart who truly understands them and their vision.

I think it’s because of this that my clients have remained good friends. We catch up when they visit Bali, we keep in touch over instagram. And I may become a relic in years to come, but I will never stop writing from the heart.

I feel like sometimes people get fixated on actual flower species rather than how the look comes together as a whole.

While I definitely think a hero flower should be selected and featured throughout your day, don’t feel like you need to buffer it or fill it with other flowers of the same colour - you can easily lose the “wow” effect you’re going after.

Instead, focus on texture.
Nothing beats multiple textures in a monochromatic format. You get depth and dimension with this, and it allows your chosen flower to really sing.

Luckily for us in Bali, greenery comes in all shapes and sizes and really give main character energy when used thoughtfully.

So even if you’re not using green, perhaps using a family of similar tones; speak with your planner or florist about how you can use texture to amplify your look, rather than overcrowding the space with too many different varieties of flowers.

After a few days to decompress and get back into work, I’ve been able to reflect on what was an incredible few days at the held at last week.

I attend these conferences annually as I love catching up with colleagues from around the world, and making new friends in the industry…we are stronger when we stand together.

It’s not competition, it’s a coming together of creative minds, expanding our reach and connections so that YOU, our clients, can reap the benefits of what we learn and who we can connect you with.

As you may know, .destinationevents is now offering our services worldwide so ensuring we match up our couples with vendors that I know and trust personally is paramount.

The talks over these few days, the intimate one-on-one meetings and the nightly events to let our hair down was the perfect blend of work and play.
Winning the raffle for a 2 night stay at in Jaipur as well as winning the social media prize for the duration of the event made it all the much sweeter!

Now I’m ready to give you my all for 2026 😘
