We grew up on the island, in one of the most beautiful small towns in Europe. She was the older sister of my school friend, the one we all quietly admired. Not only because she was older, but because she carried something rare, an innate elegance of spirit. Beautiful, captivating, and effortlessly multi-talented, she sang, drew, danced, wrote.
But above all, she had that rare quality you simply cannot teach: feeling.
What fascinates me most is how authentic her path has remained. Entirely self-taught, built from within. There is no imitation here, only a deep, intuitive understanding of taste, tradition, and the moment. In her world, everything has its place: flavour, texture, memory. Nothing is accidental, yet nothing feels forced.
In the small village of Nerežišća, in the heart of the island of Brač, at Senjković Wine Bar, Magdalena doesn’t cook to impress — she cooks to tell a story.
And the wines, born from their family winery, follow that story with quiet precision, as if nature and human touch understand each other without words.
So today, as she receives the award for Best Chef of Modern Traditional Cuisine at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel, it comes as no surprise. Because Magdalena never learned how to be exceptional, she simply remained true to who she has always been. She is not just a chef. She is a feeling. A memory. I have always admired old and traditional, while striving for new and innovative.

Creative writing was never something I consciously chose, it chose me. So far, I have been honoured with numerous regional and national awards and soon to be, my very first book of poems.

At the time of my graduation in 2005, I was working in one of the most luxurious hotels in Croatia. That was when I realized I wanted to dedicate my professional life to tourism. I dreamed of opening my own travel agency, designing unique daily tours. In 2011, one of the leading American active holiday tour operators invited me to Budapest for a job interview. An experience I will remain deeply grateful for.

Then, in 2013, I became a mother. Motherhood reshaped my path, and for the next decade, I devoted myself to my family while continuing to work in tourism, holding positions such as Marketing & PR Hotel Manager, Travel Agency Manager, Tour Guide, Tour Designer, Marina Reception Manager, etc.
So, Evona Events was born as a natural progression of experience and vision. Once my children became more independent, with enormous support of my husband, I opened a very cool fish bar.

I believe in coexistence — the coexistence of rural landscapes and innovative architecture, tradition and creativity, heritage and progress, after all; man and woman. What may appear as opposites are, in fact, complementary forces.
And it is from this understanding that meaningful futures are and will be built. 💫

Just recently, we had a teambuilding event for 60 pax group. Our clients requested island of Zlarin which is not my native island so I was excited to explore and see how it will go on the unknown ground. I've found a wonderful group of musicians from Šibenik who made this event unforgettable for our clients and for Evona Events, as well. The energy they carry and bring is something we will not forget anytime soon. When you love what you do, magic just happens. 😊

It is really important to respect the tradition. But it is also important to keep up with time and be open minded so that we can try and explore different, maybe even better things. Although authentic local cuisine is certainly our first suggestion to every visitor, it is a pure pleasure to eat at a good fine dining restaurant occasionally or to smear your face up to your ears with some delicious food from a food truck. Since I am curious by the nature, I am an excellent connoisseur of the island's tourist offer which is quite monotonous. So I decided to include both fine dining and street food in our offer for our clients. Just for the record, street food is not the same as fast food, fast food is a food that has no soul, and street food, in addition to being incredibly delicious, is a food that has a soul and a story. My favorite street food story is the story of Fish Delish, a Dalmatian brand and a blend of traditional and innovative fish cuisine with elements of street food. Fish Delish is interesting for us at Evona Events because of the private events and cooperation in terms of catering services and serving at selected locations of our potential clients.
