Kate is a Virgo, Alvin is a Scorpio. She’s outgoing and bright, he’s more reserved and thoughtful. On paper they shouldn’t really fit, but somehow they do, completely.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Designing their wedding with this concept of opposites meeting immediately brought Michelangelo’s painting to mind. The Creation of Adam, where the two hands almost touch and that small gap between them holds the whole painting together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That became the starting point for the backdrop — a sky full of constellations, with their two stars meeting right in the middle.
The florals grew from there. Lots of colour, lots of texture, a little unruly. Like a sky that doesn’t sit still.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think the best designs aren’t really decided. It’s recognized 🤍

What do couples really underestimate about getting married far from home?

We put this to Elisa from Romance Wedding Paris, and a few things kept coming up. The budget that compounds when every discipline is a separate vendor. The design decisions that hold the dream together quietly, between concept and the finished room. The guests who gave up so much to be there, and what that deserves in return.

And the hardest part: learning to let go. To trust that it will be lived, not just managed.

Destination weddings ask a lot of everyone. That's exactly what makes it unlike anything else.

Planning one, or know someone who is? Drop your questions below — we'd love to help. 🤍

Something extraordinary has been quietly taking shape in the Tuscan hills.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
White Bridal and AF Atelier are beyond thrilled to announce our new collaboration with the Tuscan luxury estate Castelfalfi - a partnership thoughtfully created to craft truly bespoke celebrations from the ground up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No templates. No “one size fits all.” Just three teams working seamlessly together to create a celebration that feels like it could only happen here — within a timeless Tuscan borgo, surrounded by Renaissance architecture, rolling vineyards, and the effortless beauty of la dolce vita.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From the very first inspiration to the final candlelit toast, every detail will be imagined, designed, and executed exclusively for you at Castelfalfi.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding that feels deeply personal and unmistakably Tuscan, this is your invitation to be among the very first couples to experience it.

Two weddings at Rosewood Hong Kong. Same ballroom. Two completely different worlds.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most couples want their wedding to feel different.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the references all come from the same Pinterest and Xiaohongshu boards, so even the beautiful ones start to feel the same. Styled, but not quite anyone’s.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I work the other way around. The design starts with the couple, not the references.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of these couples love their nights out in the city
- bar hopping, speakeasies, that late-evening energy. Their first date was a picnic at West Kowloon. So their wedding is a midsummer city night.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The other met in college in Australia. When they talk about that time, it’s the light, the long drives, the quiet. So their design grew from there - soft terrain colors, layered greens, restraint.
Same ballroom. Two different worlds. Because the design didn’t start from a moodboard. It started from them.

The day after my birthday, thinking about why I still love this work.

The honest answer is that I get to know my couples.

Not in a vendor way — in a real way. By the time the wedding comes, I know the small things that made them choose each other, the details only they would notice, the parts of their story they’re shy to say out loud. That’s where the design comes from.

I think this is how the painters I admire work. They start from a specific feeling, something they need to say, and the skill comes after, in service of the story.

The aesthetic is the surface. The relationship is what makes it possible.

Grateful, always, for the couples who let me that close.

The more you save, the harder it gets to decide.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pinterest, Instagram, wedding blogs — there’s more inspiration available than ever. And couples come to us having done their research. Mood boards filled, references saved, trends noted.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But having a lot of references isn’t the same as having a direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A direction is knowing what your wedding should feel like — and why. It’s the thread that connects every decision, from the palette to the placement of a favour bag. When it’s clear, everything becomes easier. You know what fits. You know what doesn’t — even when it’s beautiful, even when it’s trending.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without it, you end up with a wedding that looks considered but feels assembled.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s what we work to establish first. Before anything is chosen or ordered or booked.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because clarity is what makes everything else feel inevitable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A recent piece by BurdaLuxury, the publisher behind Prestige and Lifestyle Asia, explores how weddings across Asia are evolving — becoming more personal, experiential, and design-led.

I was honored to contribute a few thoughts on how thoughtful design helps shape the atmosphere and narrative of celebration, especially as more couples look beyond traditional formats.

What we protect 🫶🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With time, you learn that great design is not only about creating beauty — but about holding a direction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Along the process, ideas shift, priorities change, and different options are explored.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But not every option carries the same clarity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Part of our role is to guide these decisions — to refine, to adjust, and sometimes to return to what felt right from the beginning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because what we are ultimately protecting is not just the design, but the integrity of the experience as a whole 🤍
