The last day of started off with the Featured Speakers Session, sponsored by RCDTT, was chaired by Prof Haiyan Song. Joining this session were Prof Dimitrios Buhalis, Director of the eTourism Lab and Deputy Director of the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research at Bournemouth University Business School, who shared with us findings on “Smart Tourism in the Artificial Intelligence Era”; Prof Zheng (Phil) Xiang, Prof and Department Head of the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Virginia Tech, who gave a speech on “Digital Transformation of Tourism: What Have We Learned So Far?”; Mr George Cao, CEO of Dragon Trail International who discussed “Digital Transformation Continues in Destination Marketing”.

Following was the parallel session, featuring a special session “ESG and Sustainability in Hospitality” in which scholars and industry professionals of the University of Houston and Consortium of Global Sustainability came together for thought-provoking discussions.

With a view to fostering innovation for the industry, the Yunji Technology Hotel Digital Intelligence Joint Innovation Lab Research Collaborative Agreement was today signed by Prof Haiyan Song and Mr. Yunpeng Xie, Vice President of Yunji Technology Co., Ltd.

Besides, Prof Haiyan Song and Mr Bowen Sun, Executive Secretary of Trip.com Group Institute and General Manager of Inbound Tourism, have today came together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, enhancing the academic and research collaboration.

Congratulations to Shuwen Tan and Dr. Guoqiong Ivanka Huang on being awarded the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award with their paper entitled “Leveraging Temporal Orientations to Reduce Moral Disengagement Barriers in Environmental Public Service Advertisements Targeting Tourists”.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Sicheng Liu, Dr. Xuerui Liu, and Hongwen Sun on being awarded the first Merit Award winner for their paper entitled “The Effect of Collective Effervescence on Memorable Experiences and Subjective Well-being of Tourists Visiting Live Pop Concerts”. Big round applause for Mingming Tong and Dr. Wai Tsz Serene Tse on being awarded the second Merit award based on their paper called “Diversity for Better Interaction: the Interrelationships Amongst Ethnic Diversity, Intergroup Contacts and Resident Behaviors”. Their dedication and hard work have been truly inspiring, and we are excited to see how the research will contribute to the future of our hospitality.
The Best Paper Award goes to Dr. Guoqiong Ivanka Huang for her insightful paper, “AI Trust Divide: How Recruiter-Candidate Roles Shape Tourism Personnel Decision-Making.” The 1st Runner-Up is Professor Carlos Santos awarded for his work titled “Critical Success Factors for Rural Tourism in Island Destinations and Its Contribution to Sustainable Regional and Local Development: A Case Study of Rural Tourism Activities in The Azores Archipelago.” Dr. Xueting Zhai is awarded the 2nd Runner-Up for her paper, “Eliciting Collaborative Positive Psychology in Social-Mediated Crisis Communication: The Role of Visual Framing.”
