Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Tickets selling fast for last hurrah
at Hong Kong Stadium
Nearly 27,000 tickets sold after start of public ticket sale on 1 December
After 30 years of heart-stopping moments at the Hong Kong Stadium, the Cathay / HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is set to kick-off a new era of sports entertainment when it moves to the new Kai Tak Sports Park in 2025.
From 5-7 April 2024, Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR), organizers of the world-famous Sevens party will farewell its decades-long home. With a last hurrah at Hong Kong Stadium looming, tickets are selling fast for the world’s most famous Sevens tournament.
After the first week of public ticket sales - and the tournament’s traditional pre-sales period for members of local rugby clubs and other event stakeholders - over 65% of stadium capacity has been taken up with 26,892 tickets sold as of 13 December.
“We are excited to be launching a new era of the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens at what promises to be an iconic stadium in its own right at Kai Tak in 2025, but most importantly we are busy preparing to say farewell to the Hong Kong Stadium in true Hong Kong Sevens style in April 2024,” said HKCR Chairman Chris Brooke.
“We are once again overwhelmed and grateful for the support of the local community and fans from around the world in relation to the Sevens, and we are very much looking forward to being able to put up the ‘sold out’ sign outside of the stadium for the first time since before the pandemic.”
After 30 years of Hong Kong Sevens action and two Rugby World Cup Sevens, the Hong Kong Stadium has been a bucket list venue for generations of rugby fans and entertainment seekers since 1994.
“Tournament weekends at the Hong Kong Stadium have made ‘See you at the Sevens’ a part of the rugby world’s lexicon. We assume that fans will not want to miss this finale and we encourage interested spectators to act quickly to secure their presence as we salute the stadium for the last time,” added Mr Brooke.
