The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs just last week has appointed a new Community Development Officer (CDO) for the South Central Rupununi area.
Mr. Brenrick Francis has been named to the post and will assume duties in the district with immediate effect. In his role, Mr. Francis will carry out responsibilities as stipulated by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, working directly with village councils and communities across South Central Rupununi.
The CDO’s mandate includes supporting community development planning, facilitating government programs at the village level, and helping to coordinate projects in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and social services.
The appointment forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery and local governance in Region 9’s hinterland communities. A CDO on the ground is expected to improve communication between villages and government agencies, and to ensure that development initiatives are implemented effectively.
Residents and Toshaos in South Central Rupununi welcomed the appointment, noting that having a dedicated officer will help advance community priorities and project follow-up.
Mr. Francis is expected to begin his engagements with village leaders and residents in the coming days as he takes up his duties.
We extend our congratulations !🎊
