Wedding Celebrant Greece

Wedding Celebrant Greece Unique and personalised wedding and vow renewal ceremonies. Written and performed by me, for you. www.weddingcelebrantgreece.com

As a Wedding Celebrant I compose and perform a unique and meaningful wedding ceremony for couples of any religion, ethnicity, race or sexual orientation. Usually the couples are different nationalities and may have chosen to get married in Greece because its a neutral destination which family and friends from both sides have to travel to, and because the ceremony can beautifully combine traditions

and customs from both sides. There is no restriction to content or style and the ceremony will reflect the couples personality and tell the story of their love. The ceremony can be held at private venues such as a hotel or private villa, or even on a quiet beach if its only a handful of people. It may also be possible to combine a civil ceremony with a local registrar. To read more about how it works come along to our website or send me a message!

Handfasting: an ancient wedding tradition reimagined

My most commonly requested unity ritual over the last couple of years has been, by far, the ‘handfasting’, and it’s still growing in popularity as more couples request it for upcoming ceremonies. It’s not surprising, it’s very visually representative of two people joining themselves together and it has the added attraction of being adaptable - you can include multiple people, or just rely on your Celebrant, you can use any wording although an important part of the ritual is hearing consent from both parties, and you can use any type of binding to further personalise the tradition....

When Tracy & Adrian reached out, they weren’t planning on having a celebrant at all. Budget concerns had them reconsidering… but I’m so glad they took the leap! 💫

Together, we created a ceremony that was authentically them - personal, meaningful, and with all their children included in this beautiful moment. From our first phone conversations about their elopement vision to crafting vows that perfectly captured what they wanted to say to each other, every detail mattered.

“Elizabeth was the ceremony” - honestly, there’s no higher compliment than knowing I helped transform their wedding day into something truly special.

This is exactly why I do what I do. Your ceremony isn’t just a formality - it’s the heart of your wedding day. ✨

Tracy & Adrian, thank you for trusting me with your love story! 🤍

I know, right? Looks like a photoshoot, doesn’t it?

But this in fact was the gorgeous elopement wedding ceremony of Tracy and Adrian.

This amazing location - look there’s shadow me waving! - is a little-known viewing point on the east coast of Rhodes and it looks out over the iconic Anthony Quinn Bay and beyond, Just look at that unending blue!

Adrian and Tracy didn’t really know what they wanted for their ceremony, but they definitely knew what they DIDN’T want, and for me that’s always a really good place to start! The ceremony was just the two of them and their 4 children, a partner and gorgeous grandson. The children are from previous relationships and the ceremony was as much about affirming this blended family, so we included a handfasting where each of the children tied a rope around Tracy and Adrian’s joined hands, and then they all placed their right hands on top and I bound them all together. We were a tight knit group as you can see - it was a lovely moment and Vassilis managed to get in there and capture it perfectly!

After the ceremony we moved over to the area by the chapel for an impromptu first dance and some photos! And this is one of the many things I love about elopements - a totally relaxed timeline that allows for spontaneity and that space for the couple to really enjoy the moment for themselves without having to worry about anyone else’s comfort or enjoyment. When they’d had enough of photos they went back to their villa where a private chef was preparing a slap up wedding dinner for them.

I’ll leave you with this beautiful image, the photographer was Vassilis Ikoutas and I’ll tag him in the description. But if you want a personal and intimate ceremony with that level of veil fluffing, then you’ll need me too.

Can you get a better compliment than that 🥰

Thank you so much - and thank you for listening to my advice and trusting my judgement about the order of the ceremony. It really was perfect and so much fun!

This was my first wedding of the 2024 season back in May on a lovely beach in Olympiada - with special guests Luna & Blackie! In the ceremony we included a sand blending and a ring warming with each of the guests sharing heartfelt love and best wishes with the couple for their future.

After a whole summer of passing each other like ships in the night (more like planes in the sky!) I finally managed to catch up with fellow Celebrant, fellow honorary-Rhodian and friend, Sarah Hatzipavli from !
It was great to swap stories of our travel adventures, crappy hotel rooms and our love of the Aegean gold membership 🤩 in particular the fabulous Aegean lounge at Athens airport where we’ve both spent an extraordinary amount of time this summer!
Another I love about this job - the spirit of collaboration, not competition between Celebrants. The nature of our job means that we love people, people’s connections and peoples stories. That love means that we only want the very best for our couples and the connection between us is very important. I’m really grateful to have Sarah’s friendship and to have someone who ‘gets it’ and she will also be someone I would recommend to a couple I wasn’t available to work with.
We’re both looking forward to a rest after hectic summers, but we’ll be sure to meet up regularly and share our knowledge with each other and reminisce about the tiramisu from the Aegean lounge….
🤩❤️

My mum says ‘self praise is no recommendation’ so here’s some praise from someone else!

This is why I do this ‘job’ - because when a couple get the wedding ceremony they want, that captures the essence of their relationship and celebrates their love the way they feel it, THAT is everything to me!

This was also one of my most challenging ceremonies to perform and write. It was in both Greek and English and although i speak Greek in my everyday life, the language used in a ceremony is not as familiar to me and I had to practice A LOT to get to the point where I felt confident enough to pull it off.

It was really important to Rosa (English) and Fotis (Greek) that everyone would be able to understand and enjoy their ceremony and love story. It took a lot of deliberating (on my part) how best to do it so that both sets of guests would enjoy the ceremony, without losing engagement or interest when they weren’t listening to their own language all the time. Im pretty sure I overthought it 😁 but the end result was what we all wanted.

I’m always aware of the trust couples place in me to undertake this precious part of their day and I will always give my best to make sure that trust is well placed.

Thank you for the lovely words, thank you for trusting me and thank you for giving me the opportunity to push myself just that little bit harder!

💫😘🥂❤️

On a beautiful sunny day in an English country garden, we bought a bit of the Mediterranean and a pinch of Welsh into Melina and Tom's wedding ceremony!
Thank you both for your wonderful words - it was such a pleasure to be a part of your wedding!

Words can not express what a wonderful experience we had with Elizabeth. Professional, personal and simply incredible. We first spoke Elizabeth before the pandemic dropped and she remained our celebrant for the entire time; keeping in contact and always being available. Our wedding date was postpone...

As I looked back through my photos of 2022 to make this reel, it was a wonderful reminder of what an epic year it was for me!

I intended to pull together the wedding photos to showcase all the incredible locations and venues I had the pleasure of visiting this year. But some of my personal ones crept in there too!

In May I completed my RYA Day Skippers course, in May, July, August, October and November I took part in sailing races in the Aegean and Turkey. And finally received my Greek Skippers license after 2 long COVID years!

Apart from weddings all over Greece and the Greek islands, I was also invited to London and the Italian Dolomites. I wrote and performed intimate elopement ceremonies, micro-weddings, wedding vow renewals, big fat weddings and for the first time wrote wedding scripts for other people to perform.

It really has been a year of ‘stepping into the light’ for me and I am profoundly grateful for everything I have done, the places it’s taken me and the beautiful people I have met along the way.

So, to all you couples past, present and future – A very Happy New Year to you full of love, health and happiness! And thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
