You’ve been here before.
You open the DAW. You stare at the empty arrangement. Maybe you scroll through your samples, click on a few, close a few. Maybe you open a project from two weeks ago, listen back, feel that familiar flatness, and close it again. An hour passes. You haven’t made anything.
And the question that fills the silence is the one that always comes: What should I make?
It sounds like the right question. It feels productive. It gives you something to do with your brain while your hands stay still. Genre? Tempo? Mood? Reference track?
But that question is a decoy.
