Still on our healthy baking series.Ever heard about the wonder spice cinnamon??

There is no mistaking its attractive aroma, the one that tickles your nose and makes your stomach growl for apple pie - correct!!!

Did you know however, that while this spice is tasty it also does a whole big deal of work inside you?

Today let's learn a couple of benefits now,shall we?

Cinnamon Reduces Blood Sugar

- One of the benefits of cinnamon is its ability to moderate blood sugar. New phyto-chemicals have been discovered in cinnamon – chalcone polymers – that increase glucose metabolism in cells.

In one human study, daily amounts as low as ¼ to ½ teaspoon per day produced a 20% drop in blood sugar!How cool is that?

With the growing levels of diabetes in the country and over, this is certainly welcome news. A spice that mimics insulin, increases glucose uptake by cells, and helps other cells convert glucose to glycogen (stored sugar) – well, that is enough to propel cinnamon to stardom – but there’s more......stay glued to this page!

Good morning everyone - still on our healthy baking series

- Baking doesn’t have to be a weird task and healthy baking doesn’t have to taste or look weird either.

We can make you something delicious and nutritious…
Often when you use healthier alternatives in bakes,the flavour or texture may differ slightly but it is absolutely worth it when you reap the benefits!

Few quick tips :

Start by using an unsaturated spread instead of butter. Not only does this lower the amount of saturated fat in your cake, but it gives a lighter texture.

Opt for wholegrain flour instead of white. While this may give a denser texture, the health benefits will be far greater. Wholemeal flour will increase the fibre content and make your cake feel more filling.

Think fruits and vegetables have no place in a cake? Think again. They can add fibre and sweetness.fruits are a great way to keep your baking moist. vegetables such as carrots,beetroot,apples and berries also mean you don’t need sugar.

To finish your cake off, use a drizzle of glacé icing rather than butter icing.
