On 21st September 2025, the Qonscious Foundation, in partnership with the WM Foundation, hosted a groundbreaking Sickle Cell Awareness & Free Genotype Testing event at Odorise, Kokomlemle Circle, Accra.
The day began with a vibrant health walk, followed by educative talks from medical experts, including Dr. Kokou Amegan-Aho, Dr. Jacob Thompson, and Dr. Omaima M. Arab. The event also featured free genotype testing carried out by licensed nurses from Accra Newtown Islamic Hospital, ensuring safety and accuracy for all participants.
Beyond the medical focus, the event brought the community together with music, live performances, and entertainment, creating an atmosphere of hope, unity, and awareness. Many Ghanaians had the chance to confirm their genotype — a vital step in fighting sickle cell disease.
This full video captures every moment: the walk, the talks, the testing, the performances, and the energy of the community standing together to break the silence on sickle cell. 🩸💚
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors — Stanbic Bank, Apollo, WM Foundation, and Accra Newtown Islamic Hospital — and to all our volunteers, partners, and participants who made this possible.
