Flowers from the Farm is a UK trade supporting and promoting the sustainable local cut flower industry.
Most members of are small, independent businesses which grow fresh, seasonal quality flowers and are passionate about the environment. Thus, prioritise soil health, grow without the use of chemicals, encourage biodiversity by creating habitats for wildlife and reduce the carbon footprint due to flowers spending less time being imported from distant countries.
Here some facts from :
- The majority of flowers in the supermarket are not British
- Most shop bought flowers take up to 3-4 days to reach you, whereas British grown flowers can be with you from field to vase in less than 24h
- A locally grown seasonal bouquet has just 5% of the carbon footprint of a bouquet imported into the U.K.
