Today brought a memorial ceremony for a much-respected gentleman of 93, held at the local golf club. I so love the variety of my job and all the fascinating people I meet and stories I get to hear β€οΈπŸ’œ

It's been an interesting few days. On Friday I led a ceremony at the same chapel where I had had only two people, this time it was packed with standing room only. This morning I had the first of what may be a coming trend "Attended Direct Cremations" . So it's a 15 minute ceremony, first thing in the day, there is no choice of time slot and no Funeral Director in attendance, just a celebrant. It's amazing what you can pack into 15 minutes. Still the same allowance for music, but obviously a whole lot cheaper than a full-blown funeral. With Direct Cremations, family are not allowed to attend (some crems won't even let them into the car park) and often family are not told when the cremation is taking place (or where, in the case of these new companies on the TV) but with these, the family get to go, just choices are a little limited. Personally I think they are SO much better. We'll see how things go, I hope every Funeral Director starts to offer them. πŸ™πŸ™

After all the background work, it was nice to return to chapel today. A contrast of two ceremonies today, one standing room only followed by the smallest I've ever done, only two attendees. Still both just as important as each other but such a noticeable difference.
LOVE my job !!! β™₯️β™₯οΈπŸ™πŸ™

Back to Beckenham today to deliver ceremony number 100. Doesn't seem to be that long ago that I started, yet it is 15 months. Different every day, full of people's life stories. So good to be able to help nice people out when they need it. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

3 ceremonies this week and all massively different. The client is King, it's all about whatever THEY want to do to honour their loved one πŸ™πŸ™

Ceremony 95 today and a return to a crematorium where I did my second one ever. With a family I worked for last December as well.
One I will remember for all the right reasons. πŸ‘πŸ™

A bit further afield today in Worthing. I thought I'd never been there before until l drove in and realised I'd attended a family funeral there several years ago, way before I had any idea of being a Celebrant. Strange how the world turns, ain't it ?

Very sad to lead today's Γ§eremony. Lady had died in July and I led hers and now her husband went in November, bitter blow to the family to lose them both so close together. πŸ˜ͺ
