💕”I don’t even know what style of dress I want…”💕

Honestly? That’s absolutely fine.
You don’t need a Pinterest board full of wedding dresses. You don’t need to know your A-line from your fit and flare. You certainly don’t need to have tried on half the shops in the North East before coming to see me.

Your appointment is the time to explore.
We’ll chat about your wedding plans, your venue, what you feel comfortable in and perhaps, most importantly, what you don’t like. Then we can start trying things on, feeling different fabrics, looking at different shapes and working out what makes you feel like you.

Sometimes the dress you thought you wanted isn’t the one that makes you feel amazing. And sometimes the dress you would never have chosen from a picture is the one you can’t stop looking at in the mirror.
There’s no right or wrong way to find your dress. You just need a little time, an open mind and someone you trust to help you along the way.

As we head into the quieter months, it can be a lovely time to take a breath, come and have a proper look and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed, and if you’re a bride-to-be who is thinking “I really should start looking…” perhaps this is your little nudge.

Packed full of wonderful wedding suppliers who can’t wait to assist you with your wedding plans. Take the opportunity to come along to this magnificent building, ask any questions and just enjoy the build up to your special day.

💕Our local business community matters.💕

For almost seven years, since opening Simply Wed Bridal, I’ve been proud to be a member of Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade

During that time, I’ve seen the value of local businesses connecting, supporting one another and having a collective voice, and I believe that matters now more than ever.

We have some incredible independent businesses across Whitley Bay, Monkseaton, Cullercoats and Earsdon. We all contribute to the character, community and economy of the places we work in but as small businesses, our individual voices can sometimes feel small.

Together, they become much louder.

So, whatever the future holds for the Chamber, I believe this is an opportunity for local businesses to come together and help shape what it can be going forward.
A Chamber that feels relevant, welcoming and representative of the whole local business community, giving businesses across our area a place to connect, support each other and have a collective voice when decisions are made that affect us.

For existing Chamber members ONLY, there is something really easy that we can do right now.

Our EGM is being held on Thursday 15th October, 6pm Rockcliff Rugby Club

If you’re a current member, please consider sparing just half an hour to attend the meeting, make your voice count by casting your vote and help determine the future of the Chamber.

And if you’ve ever thought “I’d love to get more involved”, this could be your opportunity to throw your hat into the ring and put yourself forward for a committee position or alternatively Email the chamber before the 1st October and put yourself forward for an executive position.
What happens next is something only we can determine.

Finally, any local businesses who aren’t currently members, watch this space.
Once the Chamber’s up and running again, we’d all love to see you become part of it and help build something that works for the wider business community.
There is strength in numbers, and our local businesses deserve a voice and to be heard.

💕A little Harrogate behind the scenes… 💕

As you know, Paul and I headed to Harrogate on Sunday, we enjoyed a lovely evening of good food, good company and a little relaxation before an early start at the Harrogate Bridal Show on Monday….

Then it was time to get down to business, and hit those purse strings HARD.

I spent the day choosing lots of gorgeous new gowns for Simply Wed Bridal, and I have to say, there are some absolute beauties on their way to the boutique.

I carefully choose every gown I bring into the shop, so I’m really excited to see these arrive and, most importantly, to see them being tried on by my lovely brides.

They’ll be arriving over the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled, there are some very exciting things coming.

Now to wait patiently for the deliveries… easier said than done. lol 😂

💕 A little Sunday closure… for a very exciting reason. 💕

Simply Wed Bridal will be closed this Sunday as Paul and I are heading to Harrogate for a couple of days of bridal gown shopping.

I’ll be spending the time with some of my wonderful suppliers, choosing new gowns to order for the boutique for my future brides.

I absolutely love this part of my job, browsing beautiful new collections, finding those special gowns that I just know will look incredible on my brides, and getting excited about what’s to come.

It’s even better to spend this bit of time with Paul, he is coming along for the ride too. I feel a cheeky bottle of w**e and nice meal out may be in order.

I can’t wait to see what we discover and, of course, I’ll be sharing some sneaky peeks with you along the way.

So, while the doors may be closed on Sunday, there’ll be lots happening behind the scenes…

💕 You don’t need to know what style of wedding dress you want before you come to me. 💕

You don’t even need to have tried a wedding dress on before.

You might have absolutely no idea whether you’re an A-line girl, a fitted girl, a lace girl or a “I don’t even know what half of those words mean!” girl.That’s absolutely fine.

What I do love you to have before booking your appointment is your wedding date and your venue. Those two things tell me so much about you, your day and what we might explore together.

From there, we can start with you. How you want to feel. What you normally wear. What you love. What you don’t and perhaps most importantly, how you feel when you look in the mirror.

You don’t need to arrive with a Pinterest board containing 147 dresses, or know your preferred neckline.
And you certainly don’t need to fit into someone else’s idea of what a bride “should” look like.

What I would love is for you to come with an open mind and a willingness to see yourself as you are right now. Your wedding dress should make you feel beautiful for who you are today.
Not be a reward for losing a certain number of dress sizes.
Not something you have to “earn”.and not something that makes you spend the months before your wedding worrying about whether you’ll fit into it.

Of course, bodies change. Life happens. And your dress can be altered to fit you as your wedding day approaches, but I want you to choose your dress based on the bride standing in front of the mirror, rather than a future version of yourself you’re hoping to become.

My appointments are about so much more than putting dresses on. I’ll guide you, I’ll be honest with you, and I’ll encourage you to try things you might never have chosen from a photograph.

There may be surprises. There may be dresses you thought you’d hate. There may even be a few curveball “Oh my goodness, I never would have picked this!” moments.

And that’s the fun of it. You don’t have to know what you want. You just need to know that you’re ready to find what feels right for you.

Because the right dress isn’t about becoming a bride.

💕What if I don’t cry but I think I’ve found my dress?💕

It’s a question that you may well have asked yourself as a bride to be.
“I love my dress, but I didn’t cry. Does that mean that it’s not the one?”

Of course not. No.

Some brides cry when they find their dress, some laugh, some go really quiet, some can’t stop smiling and some simply feel a sense of calm and certainty.

The truth is that there’s no correct reaction.

Some TV programmes would have you believe that there should be moments where tears flow and everyone instantly knows. Real life is often more personal than that.

Finding your dress isn’t about performing a particular emotion. It’s about how the dress makes you feel.

Do you feel comfortable? Confident? Can you imagine yourself walking down the aisle in it? Does it feel like you?

The biggest clue isn’t always an emotional reaction at all.
It’s that you don’t want to take the dress off. You keep thinking about it after you’ve left your appointment. It’s that every dress is quietly being compared to it.

💕My advice💕

*Be honest with yourself.
*Trust your instincts
*Don’t measure your experience against someone else’s.
*Your wedding is unique, and your reaction to finding your dress will be too.

It’s worth surrounding yourself with people and suppliers who are genuinely invested in helping you make the right decision for you, not the decision they think you should make.

To sum up, the right dress doesn’t need tears to validate it, it should just feel ‘right’ and that is every bit as meaningful.
