Unfortunately, I’ll only have these arrangements with me tomorrow. After creating two funeral tributes this week, my homegrown flowers are very limited until next week.

Today is World Brain Day, and it feels like the perfect reminder that learning never really stops.

As a florist and a keen gardener, I genuinely learn something new every single day. Whether it's discovering how a particular flower behaves, understanding why a plant thrives in one spot but not another, or picking up a new technique for creating beautiful arrangements, there's always something to explore.

Nature is the best teacher. It keeps you curious, humble, and constantly growing.

One of the things I love most about working with flowers and plants is that no two days are the same. There's always another lesson waiting, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Here's to keeping our minds active, staying curious, and never losing the joy of learning.

I’m often asked what the difference is between my Market Day Specials and the bouquet sizes listed on my website, so I thought I’d show you with an example of The Bonnie (my mixed seasonal flowers).

Here’s the difference:
🌻 Market Day Special These are designed to be a beautiful, affordable option using the very best flowers I have available that week. They have a lighter, more airy cottage-garden feel and are perfect if you're looking for a gorgeous seasonal bouquet at a great price.

🪻 Made-to-Order Bonnie Bouquet – This bouquet is much fuller, with around 30% more flowers than the Market Day Special. It has a denser, more abundant look with fewer gaps between stems, creating a lush, premium arrangement. The extra blooms, filler flowers and foliage give it a richer appearance and make it feel even more special.

Both bouquets are made using my homegrown seasonal flowers, but the made-to-order Bonnie offers more volume, a fuller shape and a greater overall impact.

🌻 We're all set up at Bleadon Market! 🌻

I've brought along fresh, homegrown flowers, all grown right here in our wonderful village. 💐

A huge thank you for all your support already – 3 vases sold before I even left home, which means I only have 3 beautiful vases left today! 🥹💕

I've also started adding a few lovely autumn-inspired bits to my table, so pop by and have a browse. 🍂

A little evening tidy up in the flower patch, with my favourite little helper right by my side. 💕

Every flower sparked another question... "What's this?" "Why is it pink?" "Will more grow?" I don't think we made it very far before we stopped to admire (and chat about) every bloom.

The garden is really starting to come into its own now. The phlox is flowering beautifully in shades of soft pink, with darker pink centres, and around it the dahlias, cosmos, alliums, snapdragons and nigella are all growing beautifully and getting ready to put on a real show.

The only plants that have suffered are the sweet peas. Between the hot weather and me not keeping up with picking them, they've gone over to seed and are now full of seed pods. A good reminder that gardens don't need to be perfect—they're always teaching us something, and there's always next season.

Sometimes the best part of gardening isn't getting the jobs done, it's slowing down enough to see the garden through little eyes. 🌿

.I'll be at this market on Saturday with a selection of gardening and floristry-related items. Unfortunately, I won't be bringing any fresh flowers, as I'm not sure how warm the hall will be. I may, however, bring along some houseplants.

I've propagated every one of these plants myself, and I'm so proud of how well they've grown. It really does feel like watching your plant babies thrive! 🌿💚

☀️Heatwave Update ☀️

Due to the current heatwave, I'm not taking any more orders for this week.

Right now, my priority is doing everything I can to protect my cutting flower patch from the extreme temperatures. There has been a lot of extra watering and providing as much shade as possible, but unfortunately I'm expecting to lose some flowers.

I'll reassess everything over the next few days to see if weekend orders will be possible. I'll contact all customers on Thursday evening (likely quite late) to confirm what the plan is.

I'm so sorry that it will be such short notice, but I'm sure you'll understand that the weather is completely out of my control.

🌹 My First David Austin Rose of the Year 🌹

A little later than some of the other roses in the garden, but definitely worth the wait.

Today, the first David Austin rose of the season has opened its beautiful petals, revealing those soft buttery-yellow tones and the full, romantic blooms they're so loved for. 💛

Sometimes the best things take a little longer. While other roses have already been putting on a show, this beauty has been quietly gathering strength before making its grand entrance.

One of the things I love most about growing flowers is that each variety blooms in its own time. There's no rushing nature, and when a flower finally opens, it feels all the more special.

Here's to the start of another season filled with gorgeous roses, garden surprises, and plenty of blooms for future Petals By The Shore creations. 🌿
