NEXT WEEK IN FROME! ❤️
We're working on two very special events!
Starsailor: Thursday 3rd September
David Olusoga: Friday 4th September

We're looking forward to helping co-producing these two shows at the Cheese & Grain!

STARSAILOR:
Starsailor have spent more than two decades cementing their place as one of Britain’s most iconic indie rock bands. Formed in Wigan in 2000 and fronted by the unmistakable voice of James Walsh, the band exploded onto the scene with their era-defining debut album Love Is Here, a platinum-selling record that reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and delivered anthems including “Alcoholic” and “Good Souls.”

With soaring melodies, emotionally charged songwriting and unforgettable live performances, Starsailor went on to dominate the 2000s indie landscape with acclaimed albums including Silence Is Easy and a string of hit singles such as “Four To The Floor,” “Silence Is Easy,” “Good Souls,” “Alcoholic,” and “Fever.”

Celebrating 25 years together with their original line-up still intact, Starsailor continue to sell out venues across Europe and captivate audiences with the timeless sound that made them one of the UK’s most beloved live acts. Their latest album, Where The Wild Things Grow, proved the band are as vital as ever, reaching No. 2 on the Official Independent Albums Chart and earning widespread critical acclaim.

Expect massive singalongs, huge emotion, and a night packed with indie classics.

DAVID OLUSOGA
There is nothing more British than a cup of tea. Tea is our national drink and our national obsession. Yet the history of tea is the ultimate global story. It links over 350 years of British history to the histories of China, India, the Caribbean, and the United States. It encompasses the Boston Tea Party, the O***m Wars, and the history of the British East India Company. It is a story that involves industrial espionage and a vast forgotten migration within India, and the creation in Britain of a whole new world of domestic traditions and even new consumer household goods

In this brand-new talk for 2026, David Olusoga uses art and photography, history and humour to uncover the strange and unexpected history of our national drink, adding this subject to his previous ever-popular Missing History talks

David Olusoga is the author or co-author of eight books, including three editions of Black & British: A Forgotten History, which was awarded the National Book Award, the Longman-History Today Trustees Award, and the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize. His other books include A House Through Time, The World’s War, Civilisations and The Kaiser’s Holocaust.

David’s recent television programs include Empire with David Olusoga, Union with David Olusoga. He also writes and presents the long-running BBC history series A House Through Time – expect a New Series in April `26

We are also anticipating a new BBC series of A House Through Time

In this exclusive theatre event, David will discuss his transition from academic research to mainstream media, the power of storytelling in both factual programming and theatrical narrative, and how history continues to shape our present cultural landscape

This is an essential evening for anyone interested in a more inclusive, expansive, and vital view of our shared history.

A Q&A and book signing, hosted by Hunting Raven Books, will follow the presentation, offering a chance to meet one of the UK’s foremost public historians

This talk will be British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted, with the interpreter on stage alongside David.

This event has a minimum age requirement of 10. Attendees under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Dave Rowntree: No One You Know
Live at Rook Lane Chapel.

'No One You Know' is a book of Dave Rowntree's intimate, never-before-seen photographs of Blur at the start of their career.

This one-of-its kind document of what it's really like to be in a young band during the vital first years, when everything is new, romantic and fresh - seen through the eyes of their drummer, and the lens of his Olympus OM-10.

About Dave Rowntree

Dave joined Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon in Colchester in the late '80s-before Blur became one of the UK's most iconic bands. With Alex James completing the lineup, Blur helped define Britpop and then evolved beyond it, selling 70 million records worldwide, winning five BRITs, and in 2023, selling out Wembley Stadium twice.

Beyond Blur, Dave has led a multifaceted career: founding a computer animation company, working as a solicitor, standing as a Labour Party candidate, contributing to the Beagle 2 Mars mission, and composing for film and TV. In 2023, he released his debut solo album Radio Songs. This is his first photography book.

Doors: 7pm

There will be a bar at this event.

Unreserved seated. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

£21.00 + Standard booking fees.
