It starts with one look, 👀 moves into a collective enthusiastic bounce, and ends in a full-blown woolly stampede. 👣They might look like gentle, oversized clouds, but when they want their treats, they move with absolute purpose!! 🐑🐏 🐽

Drop a ❤️ if you think you could survive being aggressively cuddled by a flock of hungry pet sheep! 🐑

📍The Chelsey chop is happening at Whitbourne farm! 👋🏼🪻🪏✂️

Once we have had our first show ✨of Lavender until late June ☀️ I like to chop ✂️ it back (like deadheading) once it has finished flowering, this will encourage new growth and have a second show 🙌 of lavender until late summer! 😎👙🌞

Then when September is approaching I will give it another cut back much more harsh 🪚 (not to far down to the woody bits) just all the greenery, as this encourage the lavender not to get to leggy 📏and grown fuller and thicker for the next year. 💪

Haymaking Season Is Here 🚜

Our fields are buzzing with activity as haymaking gets underway. After days of sunshine, the grass is cut, turned, and baled, ready to provide quality feed for horses in the months ahead. We are so lucky to be able to do this all around the grounds of Longleat estate as well as the farm at Whitbourne!

Making hay is one of the most important jobs of the farming year. It takes good weather, careful timing, and plenty of hard work, but there’s nothing quite like seeing neat rows of freshly baled hay across the fields, and the perks of getting ice cream from Longleat at the end!
