✨ WANITA 22 MAY DJ ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

We are thrilled to announce our second guest DJ, who will be playing at the Wanita party tomorrow night at 🎉: Natalie Shooter

Natalie Shooter is a DJ, music writer and researcher who co-runs the cult Beirut Groove Collective clubnight alongside Ernesto Chahoud. Founded in Beirut in 2009 and now based in London, the BGC is dedicated to underground and adventurous clubbing records spanning the SWANA region, Africa and beyond. Rooted in Beirut’s formative decades as a cosmopolitan musical crossroads, the night draws on pioneering records and subcultures of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s.

Natalie’s eclectic sets move through Arabic funk and bellydance disco, Ethiopian jazz, Anatolian rock, rare soul, rhythm and blues and psychedelia. Alongside DJing, she has researched and written extensively about music, particularly from the SWANA region, and produced several comps and releases, including last year’s ‘Une Voix M’appelle: a deep dive into the modern Lebanese music adventure through the catalogue of Voix de L’Orient.’

Introducing our first guest DJ for the at . Please welcome back to the WANITA decks… DJ Sista G 🎉

Sista G, aka Gita, is born and bred in East London. As a vinyl-only DJ, she has built an extensive record collection since the early 1980s and can be found dancing hard to her own tunes behind the deck! Playing her own unique mix of 60s soul, 70s funk, disco, reggae, and girl groups with a sprinkling of post-punk, Sista G’s dance floor philosophy is Make it hot. Make it sweaty. Make it joyful.
She has spun discs across London and East Kent over the years and is absolutely thrilled to be back with the WANITA crew! As they say in Punjabi, Chullo – let’s go, people!

✨ WANITA GUEST DJ ANNOUNCEMENT #2 ✨

Introducing our second guest DJ for Wanita at this Saturday, we’re so excited to welcome Mikki to Wanita… and we’ll also be celebrating her birthday on the night! 🎂🪩 🤩🎉

A music obsessive and vinyl devotee from a young age, Mikki is one of the founding DJs of Walthamstow’s Disco2000, which started out in 2014 to recreate the indie nights she attended and DJ’d at in the ‘90s.

As well as Disco2000, she has guest DJ’d for the Rock n Roll Bookclub, Gary Crowley’s Lost ‘80s and bands such as The Wedding Present, My Life Story and Voice of the Beehive. She loves playing a dancefloor-friendly mix of old and new favourites with the odd curveball thrown in.

It’s her first time behind the Wanita decks, and we can’t wait to hear her signature mix of indie favourites & dancefloor female bangers ✨

We’re so excited to introduce our first guest DJ for Wanita at 🙌🏼 Please welcome back to the Wanita decks… DJ Caveirinha 💃🏽🪩

DJ Caveirinha is a Galician DJ and record collector based in London since 2016. She began DJing to share her love of music and to spotlight female artists within the scene.

Her sets span a wide range of sounds, but when it’s time to move the floor, she always returns to Soul, Funk, and Disco, with Brazilian and Latin touches woven in.

Back at Wanita for the second time behind the decks, she’s bringing a fresh all-female selection from her ever-growing vinyl collection. Expect warm grooves, deep cuts and timeless tracks to keep you moving all night.

From London to venues across Europe, she’s been keeping dancefloors buzzing and can’t wait to do it again at Wanita! 💃🏽✨
