Today is International Day of the Girl, and weโ€™re celebrating Maya, our brilliant 14-year-old volunteer skate coach! ๐ŸŒŸ

Maya joined Power Through Sport through her Duke of Edinburghโ€™s Award and has become an invaluable part of our team.

Every Friday at Temple Park, she helps new skaters find their feet, grow in confidence and progress through their skating grades. With patience and encouragement, sheโ€™s helping others discover what they can achieve โ€” and growing as a young leader herself.

Maya reminds us that girls are already making a difference, inspiring others and leading the way. ๐Ÿ’ช

Today is International Day of the Girl, and next up weโ€™re celebrating Ruby, our roller hockey and ball hockey superstar ๐ŸŒŸ

From the UK to Canada, Ruby gives it her all. She battles hard against the boys, never shies away from a challenge and isnโ€™t afraid to show them whoโ€™s boss! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

What makes us proudest is her willingness to learn. Ruby keeps listening, practising and pushing herself โ€” making huge improvements and doing herself proud along the way.

Today is International Day of the Girl, and first up weโ€™re celebrating Mia, our 12-year-old mini-skate coach! ๐ŸŒŸ

Full of sass and always bringing her own sparkle, Mia was a top helper at our MetroCentre roller rink โ€” getting stuck in, supporting other skaters and showing just how much young people have to offer. You can catch her at Boldon CA, Temple Park and Benfield Skate sessions in between jet-setting off to international cheerleading competitions!

At Power Through Sport, we want girls to have opportunities to build confidence, find their voice and take the lead. Mia is doing exactly that, one skate session at a time! ๐Ÿ’ช

At Power Through Sport, innovation is one of our core values. It drives us to try new ideas, introduce people to different sports and create opportunities shaped around our community.

For ten years, weโ€™ve built that community through showing up, earning trust and turning ideas into action.

Behind every post are real people: a child finding their confidence on skates, a young volunteer becoming a coach, a family discovering somewhere they belong.

Weโ€™re looking for young people aged 14โ€“16 and their parents/guardians to take part in Powering Positive Minds โ€” an 8-week programme supporting physical and mental wellbeing.

The programme combines sport, practical wellbeing skills and family support to help young people and families:

โœจ Build confidence and resilience
๐Ÿ’ฌ Improve communication and understanding at home
๐Ÿง  Develop practical tools to manage stress and emotions
๐Ÿ’™ Feel more comfortable talking about mental health and reduce stigma

Powering Positive Minds could be particularly helpful for young people experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood or emotional overwhelm, or families who are considering, waiting for, or unsure about accessing additional mental health support.

You donโ€™t need a diagnosis or to already be receiving support to get involved โ€” this is about building positive mental wellbeing and giving young people and families tools they can use in everyday life.

Unfortunately, tonight's Family Roller Disco at Boldon CA has been cancelled due to essential repairs at the facility.

We're sorry for any inconvenience, but the good news is we'll be back next Thursday, 15th October, from 6:30โ€“7:30pm! ๐ŸŽ‰
