An empty chapel is never really empty.

I took this photo at North East Surrey Crematorium before a recent service.

Before the family arrive, there’s a quiet moment. The room may be empty, but it’s already full of memories, love and stories waiting to be told.

As a celebrant, my role is to help families honour a life in a way that feels truly personal.

Because every life leaves its mark, and every goodbye deserves care. ❤️

🎵 Tuesday Thoughts… 💭

Music tells the story.

Just look at this photo.

The band playing.
The couple dancing.
Friends and family on the dance floor.

You can almost hear the music just by looking at it.

And that’s what I love about music in ceremonies.

It isn’t just something that happens in the background. It becomes part of the story.

Whether it’s a wedding, a vow renewal, a naming ceremony or a funeral, the right piece of music can say so much without a single word.

It can bring back a memory.

Remind us of someone we love.

Capture a relationship.

Mark a new beginning.

Or simply make us smile.

Music has a way of making us feel.

And years later, sometimes it’s just a few opening notes that take us straight back to a moment, a person, or a place.

That’s the power of music.

It doesn’t just accompany the story. It becomes part of it. 🎶

Tuesday Thoughts… 💭

One of the questions I’ve been chatting about a lot at recent wedding fairs is…

“What’s actually the difference between a Registrar and a Celebrant?” 🤔💍

And honestly, it’s been lovely having those conversations with couples and helping them understand what their options are.

Registrars play an important role in making your marriage legally official, with a ceremony that follows the requirements set out by the registration service.

But a celebrant-led ceremony gives you the freedom to really make the ceremony your own. ❤️

No set script. No one-size-fits-all approach. Just a ceremony built around you two, your story and the things that matter to you.
