Bears & Butterflies Luxury bell tents for every occasion. We are based in York and will deliver all across the North and the Midlands. Totally hassle free!

Bears & Butterflies is a family-run, luxury bell tent hire company, providing boutique accommodation options for a whole range of events – from weddings and festivals to children’s parties, and even grown-up parties, too! We will pitch and furnish the tents so you can just turn up and enjoy yourselves. And when the party’s over, we’ll be back to pack it all up.

So, a little bit about us, we are Steve and Gemma Thompson – husband and wife team, owners of Bears & Butterflies.

We first met in 2004 whilst living and working in careers in London. In 2005 we were offered the chance to run Gemma’s family’s business, a 5 star, 30 acre caravan and camping site in North Yorkshire. We jumped at the opportunity and never looked back. After 13 successful years the business was sold in 2018. Moving to York and looking for a change of pace, we quickly established ourselves and started to look for a business that we could transfer our existing skills to but above all our passions!

In the summer of 2019 Steve worked for a leading marquee company in Yorkshire and immediately fell in love with the wedding and events industry. Business ideas flowed and we soon discovered Bears and Butterflies for sale! In a matter of moments we knew it was a perfect fit for us! A deal was struck so Bears and Butterflies was quickly relocated from Devon to York.

Since the summer of 2020 we have doubled the fleet size and now boast 50 bell tents, in 3 sizes that can sleep up to 150 guests! We pride ourselves on delivering a personal experience to all our customers, you only deal with Steve and Gemma from initial enquiry, all the way through until we pack the last tent peg away!

We just love it! Working in the fields from April to October building bell tent villages and meeting lovely people. We work to deliver an amazing service to our clients every time – we know we are only as good as our last job!
