Hope everybody enjoyed our summer😉😎😂 It was hard work getting all of the plants planted-out in that heat but they were definitely better outside than "frying" in the greenhouse !! Beds of sweet peas, strawflowers, sunflowers, cornflowers, wildflowers, scabiosa and dahlias are all doing well. The perennials are a delight this year for flower bucket, bouquets etc😍. The last photo is of a wild orchid growing in the field.

On the wildlife front there's lots going on...barn owls, parakeets, ducks and all the other birds are doing well...although we have had a few baby swallow losses (probably due to the heat in the nest)

Will post some more photos when the annuals bloom💐

Hope everybody's doing well....Just thought I'd show how much the sunflowers, strawflowers and other "seedlings" have grown in the last month since I posted 😀💐The sunflowers are 3 -4 feet tall ! They could do with planting out but not with the weather forecast for this week 🌧️🌩️❄️
Some seeds have been direct sown in long beds (cornflowers, mixed wild flowers, sweet peas) but they are all still under fleece or cloches.

Loving all the flowers blooming in the garden at the moment. The flower buckets are lovely with the peonies are just starting, lots of nigella, alliums, antirrhinums, astrantia and perennial cornflowers.

Can't wait for the weather to settle and get everything planted out 😃😎

Let's talk dahlias...my favourite flower 😀
You wouldn't think that such beautiful flowers could come from these unassuming tubers but they do 😀💐 They're just starting to show little green shoots at the moment.
They look amazing in late summer and autumn bridal bouquets, buttonholes and in all arrangements.
Looking forward to arranging with them again this year.

Good Morning😀 Just a little update on the Cutting Garden for this years buckets, bouquets, weddings etc....

Lots of potting-on been done recently🌱🪴 !
Some have amazing/funny names, including sunflowers Gummy Bear & dahlia Poodle Skirt (they're fuzzy looking 😅), dahlia Skyfall for all the James Bond fans and sunflower Helios Flame for those who like the sun😎 !

Other seedlings include strawflowers, scabiosa and cornflowers.

Photo of previous sunflowers for "how they will look" 😀

Have a great weekend everybody x

Last week, I had the honour of making funeral flower arrangements for a good friend's dad.

Flowers and colours were chosen by George's family and included alliums, eryngium thistles, limonium, clematis, heather, rosemary, eucalyptus and yew.

A very fitting tribute to a much loved gentleman.

Happy Mother's Day😀💐Hope everybody has a lovely day x

Finally, a bit of decent weather😎!! Have been busy w**ding, tidying, cleaning the greenhouse, cutting back the roses etc. Lots more to do though😏 !!

Yesterday, I did my first batch of seed sowing...sunflowers (a few types), strawflowers, scabiosa & rudbekia.
The annual beds are w**ded/ready and covered in black plastic (good w**d suppressant and ground warmer !). I think it's still a bit early for direct sowing because the ground still feels a bit cold and wet. Maybe another week or two...

On the wildlife front : there's lots of nest building going on🐦and we are seeing lots of the barn owls🦉🦉There's quite a few sleepy bees and ladybirds around too🐝🐞

Hope everybody's having a good week...photo of previous years sunflower with a busy visitor 😊🌻🐝
