Farewell to a Classic 🎉💔

Today marks the end of an era at Airplay Inflatables as we say goodbye to our beloved 18x17 Disco Bounce castle. This was the very first large inflatable we ever owned, joining us all the way back in 2004. Over the years, it's brought joy to two generations of families, hosting countless parties and events filled with laughter and memories.

What makes this one extra special? It was the last of our castles with hand-painted artwork, something that digital prints just can’t replicate. Built from a tougher grade of PVC, these older castles were made to last, and thanks to proper care, this one still looks fantastic and delivers a great bounce.

We’re confident it will bring many more years of fun to its new owners, but we can’t help feeling a little emotional saying goodbye.

Thanks for the memories, goodbye old friend. 💙

Yesterday it was all hands on deck at Airplay HQ, it was our annual testing day.
What is inflatable testing❓
Inflatable testing refers to the inspection and safety assessment of inflatable play equipment such as bouncy castles, inflatable slides assault courses and inflatable sports games. If you're a business making inflatables available for commercial hire an annual inspection by a qualified inspector is a legal requirement and required by insurers. Inspection bodies include RPII and P**A.
Why and what is tested❓
Testing is typically done to meet BS EN 14960 standard (latest is BS EN 14960:2019) as laid down by HSE and includes:
Visual Inspection:
✅No tears, rips, or obvious damage
✅No exposed sharp edges or broken seams
✅Stitching is in good condition
Anchoring System:
✅Correct number of anchor points (usually at least 6)
✅Anchor points securely fitted and functioning
✅Adequate tethers and stakes used (min 380 mm for outdoor)
Blower and Inflation:
✅Blower properly connected and guarded
✅Proper air pressure maintained. (min pressure 1 KPA)
Markings & Documentation:
✅Maximum user height and number of users clearly displayed
✅Product ID, manufacturer, and serial number labeled
✅Operating manual and inspection log present
Physical Tests:
✅Tilt test (to check stability)
✅Pressure retention test (to ensure it holds air and is firm under foot)
✅Material flammability compliance
