Thank you so much for coming to our show and helping make it such a success as usual! 🥰
It was fantastic to share the space with the Russell Society who were there all weekend at their Annual Social Meeting, and with all the 'Extras' of lucky mineral dips, mineral ID service from some of the country's top mineralogists and several book signings and TWO book launches - it was a truly remarkable and busy show all round.

Feedback from our exhibitors was very positive. 🤩
The show seemed pretty busy at times during the day and exhibiters reported that they had a great show - always a good thing to hear! 🥳😎
Certainly the visitors seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Thankyou for a brilliant show review, Luke- it’s always great to spend time catching up with friends in the mineral community.

I always get excited for a gem and mineral show. Whether it’s international or domestic, and thankfully there are some truly wonderful ones that happen on this island of ours... and the Oxford Mineral Show never fails to meet expectations. And in truth... surpass them.

Does it have the scale of something like Sainte-Marie or Munich? No… of course it doesn’t. But in a way, that’s part of the appeal. A big mineral exhibit is a multi-day affair that always runs the risk of eating into your emotional bandwidth and enthusiasm after a few days. Especially after the glitz and bright lights start to grow more migraine-inducing as the show draws to a close, leaving you lugging around a dolly trolley squinting your eyes, fully aware that you’ll have to endure the laborious task of dealing with shipping companies not to mention the inevitability of catching an international flight.

This is never true of the smaller domestic shows. You can potter around, make idle chitchat with people who are affable at best and amicable at worst. You’re spared some of the impatience that wraps itself around the bigger events probably because people pay more for their stalls at the bigger shows and therefore have a greater sense of urgency to sell, unlike events attended mostly by people exercising a passion. People who generally want to talk shop precisely because they share your fascination and are eager to do so.

There are several very good shows in the UK. Oxford is among my favourites. It’s close enough to home to fall into the “casual drive” category, and the relative affordability of a stand translates into more affordable pieces.

I never exhibit at events more because the hassle that surrounds set-up and wind-down is more than I can emotionally tolerate or meaningfully fit into my schedule but we always make an appearance.

If you’re a hobbyist or enthusiast looking to engage with people who share your passion and enthusiasm, and who are refreshingly qualified to discuss the inevitable nuances of the subject, then the Oxford show never fails. It didn't last year, it hasn't this year... and this sets up equal expectations for the next.
