Promise I do real work around here too, it’s not just messing about with flowers. Got a lovely lovely week or two of real wedding coming up.

To celebrate the Spring equinox. I started the day, greeting the sun, playing in the water and playing with flowers. 💛☀️✨

Did you notice or mark the Equinox? If so I’d love to hear how?

Yes, my aim was to create some new photos for a new website coming.. let’s not hide that. Yet also it was to celebrate this hopeful and very welcome shift into Spring and into longer days.

It was LOTS OF fun, and although I thought about my intentions, it wasn’t overly staged or over analysed. Just me, the sea and a bucket of flowers. Afterwards Whitney and I took a walk and enjoyed some tasty coffee and food together.

Beyond grateful that Whitney is up for a 5:45am pick up call and prepared to get wet feet for our creative projects together. We shall pack more spare socks next time!…

Sound up if you can.. some dawn bird chorus for your Monday lunchtime. Recorded at 05:40 on Saturday just there.

Unless for someone else or flowers I rarely get up before dawn. But have to say it was so nice to get up before the light and listen to the birds whilst making buttonholes, adding finishing touches to the bouquets. (There’s also some traffic noise in there too, birds and humans getting on with their day together)

A note to self, clean the workshop window. 🫧

The weekend saw our first flower gig of 2026. Thanks to all the hard working flower growers and suppliers. We gathered lots of gorgeous spring flowers, tulips, Iris, narcissus, raunulcus, etc from down south thanks to and . The in Carlisle delivered some gorgeous roses and thistles to us too.

And also thanks to Rosie at for some Scottish grown delights, including more daffs, muscari, arum leaves and some willows.

A greenery dream 🌿

Sharing these gorgeous images from J+S’ beautiful wedding. All by .

This weekend was a foliage, greenery dream thanks to J’s vision…

Floating foliage pillars, chandeliers draped in green branches.. tables full of candlelight with foliage garlands. I loved how many candles there were. All of the candles were all down to J+S, and their family / friends helping out. Team work makes the dream work….

Foliage ingredients included jasmine vines, osmanthus, box and weilega sourced from the grounds at . Huge thanks as ever to Tricia.
Soft / Italian ruscus from . And camellia foliage from my own garden.

Do you have a favourite foliage? I change my mind often, but think Ivy would have to win for me. Or maybe Jasmine, or Rosemary? See I can’t decide..

Dried flowers… What’s everyone’s thoughts on dried flowers? I love them. Don’t use them as much as fresh though..
If you know me you’ll know I’m slightly obsessed with scent/ smells so I love how dried flowers can be spritzed or personalised with any scent you love.

Lapel flowers, (aka pin flowers, corsages, buttonholes, boutonnières)

I love making them and personalising them. They can be small yet powerful statements.

Examples of how we’ve made them personal…

Added scent, using perfume or essential oils to dried elements or ribbon. For relaxation, to evoke a memory.
Scrabble tiles, mini metal skulls, Lego men, golf tees..
Herb combos, paying attention to the symbolism. Rosemary is a strong fave
Flower ingredients connected to family or a familiar place.

That’s what I mean when I say considered. I consider the heart of the story, and then how your flowers can quietly or loudly add to that story. How will they make you feel?

How would you personalise your lapel flowers? ✨

In September, I assisted the wonderful at her ikebana demonstration at .industries in Leith. A sunlit afternoon of calm and quiet focus as Mai shared her artistry.

Mai and I met in Tokyo earlier this year when Alister and I took one of her classes, her kindness and way with flowers stayed with me. To welcome her in Scotland and see her work, her way of listening to flowers, feels like a small dream realised. It’s hard to describe how special it was to share this experience.

Visit ’s page to see more of her work, and much better posts of her three beautiful creations from this day.
All the gorgeous flowers and branches were sourced from .

Deep gratitude to Mai for your friendship and generosity. And to everyone who joined us and created a wonderful atmosphere in the room.

Huge thanks to Away Industries for being such kind, attentive hosts. The light in this building is incredible. 💫
