Things nobody tells you about eloping 👀🤍

🐾 Your dog can be your groomsman, bridesmaid, ring bearer... whatever you like. Meg (our wedding coordinator) has seen it all, and honestly some of our favourite ceremonies have had four legs stood at the front.

🦙 You can still have "guests" — ours just happen to be alpacas. Feeding them is part of the fun and makes for some of the most relaxed, genuine photos of the whole day.

👗 No one says you have to keep your dress in a box forever. Some of our brides choose something they can actually wear again — an anniversary dinner, a birthday, just because. Your wedding dress doesn't have to retire the day after.

💃 Yes, you can still have a first dance. Just the two of you, in the Summer House or under the stars — no crowd required, all the same magic.

🥂 And you don't have to get ready in separate rooms if you don't want to. Traditions are lovely, but at Millbrook, your day is built entirely around what actually feels right for you two.

Meet Justine — the woman behind the food at so many Millbrook weddings 🍽️💛

Justine Wood has been feeding our couples for seven years, and she's become one of those suppliers who feels woven right into the fabric of this place (she's also one of our wedding coordinators!). Self-taught, home-cooked, and made with real care — her food isn't fussy, it's just genuinely delicious.

From delicate afternoon teas to long, relaxed grazing boards in the Summer House, she'll happily work from her set menus or build something completely bespoke. Her honest words on catering for elopements say it best:

"As it's just the two of you, you can have anything you like. Even if you fancy a burger for your wedding meal!" 🍔😄

Throwback Thursday 🕰️🖤 — Sarah & Jack, May 2026

Sarah and Jack eloped with us back in May, and Chris Catullo Photography brought something really special to the day — playing with light and shadow throughout, and shooting the final few frames on black and white 35mm film. There's something lovely about a handful of images from your wedding day existing as actual film, not just pixels. 📷🖤
