Sadly, this day 1974, Guitarist and fiddle player Don Rich, a member of Buck Owens' backing band, The Buckaroos, was killed in a motorcycle accident on State Route 99 north of Bakersfield, California, he was 32. As the bandleader for Buck Owens and the Buckaroos it was the sound of Don’s Telecaster and his close harmonies with Buck that became the foundation for The Bakersfield Sound.🎶
