🌊 COASTAL CONDITIONS ARE SET TO DETERIORATE THIS WEEKEND ⚠️
Conditions around the Cornish coast are expected to become increasingly challenging this weekend, with strong wind gusts likely to produce large, surging waves and unsettled seas, particularly later on Saturday.
This will coincide with big spring tides, meaning there will be a significant amount of water moving around our beaches and estuaries, with changing conditions and flash rip currents.
🌊 Please take extra care around the coast:
• Check the weather, tides and local conditions before heading out.
• Never turn your back on the sea — waves can surge much further up the beach than expected.
• Keep a safe distance from cliffs, rocks and exposed coastal areas.
• If you are not confident in the conditions, stay out of the water.
• If you do want to swim or surf, choose a lifeguarded beach and obey the flags when lifeguards are present.
• Keep children, vulnerable people and pets close and away from the water's edge.
• If you are caught in a rip current, do not fight against it. Stay calm, float, raise the alarm (wave and SHOUT) and, if able, swim parallel to the shoreline until you are out of the outgoing current.
Call 999 in a coastal emergency and ask for the Coastguard.
