I got the ick...

Now, I am all for your day YOUR way, however that looks. That will never change. But I've seen a few things over the years that make me wince, so I thought I'd share, to see if they give you the ick too. Pop yours in the comments. And if you reckon I need a cuppa and a sit down, I'll take that on the chin.

Guests talking down the couple's choices. If you don't support how someone wants to do their own wedding, I do gently wonder why you're there. Harsh, but I think fair.

Ignoring an unplugged ceremony request. If the couple asked you to put the phone away, put the phone away. Nobody wants your iPad blocking the aisle in every photo.

Treating the venue staff and suppliers like something stuck to their shoe. We are people, doing a job we love, at YOUR celebration. A please and a thank you costs nothing.

Hammering the free bar like they've crossed a desert to get there. Couples are so generous putting money behind the bar. Try not to make them regret it by 7pm.

Leaving glasses and rubbish in genuinely baffling places. Why is there a champagne flute and a burger box balanced in a hedge? How? Who?

Which of these have you spotted? Or am I the one who needs to chill? Spill the tea & tell me below! Bxx

FREEDOM //

Your free time should be exactly that. Free.

Free for the people you love. Free for the parts of your business that actually light you up. Free for doing absolutely nothing, if that's what you need.

What it shouldn't be is you, on a precious day off, dragging props around an empty venue you booked yourself, trying to style and shoot and direct a whole creative concept single-handed, just to get a few decent images for your portfolio.

I see so many brilliant wedding suppliers pouring their rare downtime into DIY content that never quite captures how good their work really is. All that effort, and the results still don't do you justice, because staging a publication-worthy shoot is a real craft and a full team's worth of work.

So protect your time. Pour your energy into the work you love, and let someone else build the world around it. That's exactly what a Content Creation Day gives you. I handle the concept, the venue, the styling and the team, you show up and do your thing, and you leave with images that actually earn their place on your feed.

Want your weekends back AND better imagery? Drop me a DM. Bxx

I spent yesterday afternoon building a colour palette, sourcing props, plotting a shot list and mapping out which publications a shoot might suit. Hours of it. And I was having the time of my life.

I'm telling you this because that sentence right there is most suppliers' idea of a nightmare.

You're brilliant at your craft. The flowers, the cake, the outfits, the stationery, whatever your magic is, you've got it in spades. But the bit around it? Dreaming up a whole concept, art-directing it, wrangling a creative team, getting it shot beautifully and pitched to the right magazine? For most people that's a giant, time-eating headache.

For me, it's the best part of the job. I'm terrifyingly organised and weirdly happy buried in moodboards and shot lists. Building a whole world for a wedding that doesn't exist yet, then watching it come to life on the day, never gets old.

So here's the thing. You don't have to be good at all of it. The part that drains you is the exact part I love, and on a Content Creation Day, I do that bit so you can just turn up and be brilliant at yours.

You walk away with professional, publication-ready images of your real work, and your name in the credits. Past shoots have landed in Outrageous Bride, Magpie Weddings and Unconventional Weddings.

Fancy letting someone else build the world for once? My DMs are open. Bxx

The internet has got HUGE, and trying to be seen in it can feel like a full-time job on top of your actual full-time job. If you run a wedding business, this one's for you. Let me paint you a picture.

There's a big red button by the side of your bed. The second you wake up, you hit it, your door flies open and 100 people pour into your room, all of them clamouring for attention. One's on about jeans, one wants to save the bees, one's telling you what they had for their tea last night, one needs you to vote for their kid in a competition, and one is flogging the secret to a stress-free wedding. You herd them out and get on with your day.

At lunchtime you clock another red button on your desk. "Ooh," you think, "wonder if it's the same as this morning's?" Press it and BOOM, a fresh 100 people flood in, shouting BUY THE STUFF NOW.

By home time, you're sinking onto the train and there's another red button waiting on the seat beside you. You've seen two today, you know what happens, so you hold off pressing it for a good five minutes. Then temptation wins, you press it, and f**k sake, ANOTHER 100 people cram into the carriage, yelling about news and fashion and products and that one bloke STILL banging on about the bees.

That's the feed & that's the noise every couple is wading through.

When you post your work, you're one of the 100 too. Arms in the air, competing with the bee bloke for half a second of someone's attention while the carriage stays rammed.

This is exactly the gap I built Emerald Orchid Creative to fill. My Content Creation Days put suppliers' work into properly art-directed editorial shoots, the kind that get picked up by actual publications đź–¤ the Peaky Blinders shoot alone landed three features (Outrageous Bride, Magpie Weddings and Unconventional Weddings), with the suppliers credited every time. Instead of shouting louder into the carriage, your work turns up somewhere people are already leaning in to look.

If that's the kind of break from the noise you're after, drop a comment or send me a DM and I'll talk you through how it works.

So go on, tell me in the comments. Have YOU been pressing that big red button lately?

Can we talk about stock photos for a second?

You know the ones. Generic bouquet, generic hands, generic "just married" sign that could belong to literally any wedding, anywhere, ever. 💤💤

And now we've got AI images doing the same thing but faster and somehow even more soulless.

None of that makes anyone remember you. It makes you blend into the exact same scroll as every other supplier using the exact same free stock photo.

What actually stops someone mid-scroll is imagery that looks like YOU. Your style. Your work. Shot properly, styled around a concept nobody else has touched.

That's what a Content Creation Day gives you. Not a nice-to-have. A proper marketing asset that's actually yours.

DM me if you want to know more. Spots are limited on purpose xx

Your marketing is the first thing a couple sees before they ever speak to you. That's a lot of pressure on one image.

Stock photos and AI images are free because they cost nothing to make and mean nothing once someone's seen the same one twenty times. Anyone can use them. Everyone does. That's the whole problem.

A Content Creation Day costs something because it's actually yours. Your work, shot properly, styled around a concept nobody else in your category has touched. The suppliers who've done these shoots know exactly what I mean, their images don't look like anyone else's feed, and that's not an accident.

If you're still marketing on the same free imagery as every other supplier in your niche, that's a choice you're making, and it's costing you more than the spot fee ever would.

This got ya thinking? You know you could do far better with your images, right?

Think about what you get for your money at a wedding fair.

A table. Maybe a nice backdrop if you've gone all out. You're representing your work, in a small space, for a few hours, hoping the right couple stops long enough to properly take it in. (And I'm not dissing wedding fairs BTW! They were my gateway into the wedding industry, many years ago, & they hold a lovely piece of my heart).

A Content Creation Day works on the same principle, you're investing to get in front of your ideal audience, but what you're presenting is a whole styled wedding. Full set dressing, real florals, a real couple, the lot. Your work isn't on a table next to a bowl of business cards, it's woven into an entire concept that gets shot, styled and submitted to publications your ideal couples are already reading.

Same reason you'd book a fair. Bigger stage to do it on. Just thought I'd help ya see how I can help make you even more visible to your ideal couple.

“Nowadays, people know the price of everything, and the value of nothing.” Oscar Wilde wrote that in 1890, and it still nails a pattern I see in half the suppliers I work with.

You’ve been in this industry a while. You watched what worked for other people, the tone, the poses, the whole aesthetic package, and you copied it, because it clearly worked for them.

Fair enough, that’s a sensible starting move.

But there comes a point where doing the same safe, borrowed version of your business stops being a strategy and starts being a hiding place.

YOU are the secret sauce in your own business. Not the styling formula everyone else is also using. Not the pose that did well for someone else eighteen months ago. YOOOUUUU.

A content creation day gives you room to actually show up as yourself in your marketing, colour, personality and all, in a way your ideal couples can feel before they’ve even messaged you.

Spaces are open on upcoming shoots. If you’re ready to stop borrowing someone else’s version of success and build one that’s actually yours, drop me a DM.

Our Peaky Blinders shoot got featured in THREE publications: Outrageous Bride, Magpie Weddings and Unconventional Weddings.

Now we’ve got two brand new shoots on the way. A Wes Anderson fever dream and a full gothic Addams Family romance, both packed with couples who deserve to see themselves reflected in wedding inspo, not just watered down versions of what everyone else is doing.

Watch this space. Some exciting features on the way xx

Tag a supplier below who deserves this kind of spotlight. Bonus points if they’d never dream of asking for it themselves.

I know a lot of people are cursing the continued warm weather, but I’m afraid I’m not one of them!

Every morning I’m able to sit outside in the peace with a cuppa, listening to the birds & watching the breeze move the trees. Then during the day, I’m outside scribbling my notes in a notebook, sun on my face, feeling my creativity flow while I’m tucked up on the garden sofa.

This is exactly the energy I want Emerald Orchid to run on 🧡 helping suppliers show up as themselves, in the best light possible, with their success right at the top of my list. Brighter weather brings a proper sense of optimism, like anything’s possible. So if you’re wondering how my creative brain works best: surrounded by insanely talented people who inspire me, warm sun on my face, breeze in my hair.

Happy Sunday my loves, from my house to yours. Can’t wait to watch you fly & believe in your business as much as I do. Bxx
