This month, The Fuze Foundation is spotlighting the fundamentals of modern humanism. It is also World Humanist Day on the 21st of June 2025.
Humanism is a philosophical and ethical life stance that values human beings, individually and collectively, and emphasises critical thinking and evidence over dogma or superstition.
Humanists believe that reason and science can help us understand and improve the world. We each have the right and responsibility to shape our own lives, and to do so with a sense of empowerment and collective care.
This leads to a secular, ethical outlook based on human needs, not divine rules, and promotes education, the arts, and lifelong learning.
Today, humanism continues to influence fields like politics, literature, art, and education. It champions democracy, human rights, and social justice, always seeking a more compassionate and equitable world.
At its core, humanism calls for a life of reason, compassion, and a commitment to progress.
