Tutu restoration and re hooping !
Here is Emeline looking beautiful in her tutu.
It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago this tutu was destined for the recycling with no life left in the drooping floppy skirt.
We set to work restructuring the skirt with a new layer adding a new hooping channel before re hooping with a reinforced bound hoop. A full steam clean and overnight starch treatment brought the beautiful colours back to life.
Good as new, Emeline danced her heart out, winning her section and placing 3rd in the championship. City of Plymouth Festival Association

When you are asked for sewing lessons and you ask what they would like to make, they tell you of their dream to make their daughter’s prom dress……..
Urrrrr not exactly a starter project but we only went and did it !!
Here is Holly in her prom dress made by her mum starting from scratch with her drawing of her own design, learning how thread the machine right through to the finished product !

Lovely photo of these girls from Totnes School Of Dance from the All England Dance semi finals. Some of these costumes were originally made a long time ago, we at Personally Sewn have made new replicas and added to the set in order to allow more pupils to dance. I can’t remember the exact number we have now made over the last few years!!

Still trying to get any of the actual transformation photos of this ugly duckling into swan character costume. Jodie from Alison Axford Theatre School has managed to get the live onstage costume transformation down to 1.2 seconds making it very difficult to capture. Blink and you’ll miss it !!

It’s not just full costumes we make here at Personally Sewn over the years we have made hundreds of simple circle dance skirts to complement dancers themes and choice of Leo. From national, ballet or lyrical in all materials, designs and lengths here are just a few worn in performance over the last few weeks.
