It's safe to say this was the wedding that changed a lot for Laura and I.
It was the wedding where everything clicked. Where every element felt beautifully connected and worked effortlessly alongside the next.
I vividly remember Laura spending hours searching through thousands of flowers, foliages and dried stems to find the perfect combination to bring our bride Katie's aesthetic to life.
When we stepped back from the installation, I remember feeling a sense of wonder.
Not because it was the biggest wedding we'd ever created.
Not because it was the most expensive.
But because it felt completely aligned.
Aligned with Katie.
Aligned with the venue.
Aligned with the atmosphere we wanted to create.
And perhaps for the first time, completely aligned with us.
On the journey home, we made a promise to ourselves.
From that day forward, we would create weddings that felt authentic to our couples, but also authentic to us.
We would stop designing from expectation and start designing from intuition.
We would trust our creativity more.
We would embrace movement, texture, seasonality and the beauty of designs that feel natural rather than forced.
Because we've learned that the most memorable weddings aren't created by following a formula.
They're created when creativity is given the freedom to flow.
Looking back now, I can see that this wasn't just another wedding.
It was the beginning of the Holly & The Dragonfly you know today.
The wedding that gave us the confidence to trust our instincts, embrace our creativity and design with intention.
And whilst our work has continued to evolve over the years, the feeling we walked away with that day remains the same.
It's a feeling that still guides how we approach every brief, every proposal and every installation.
A commitment to creating weddings that feel authentic, atmospheric and beautifully connected — for our couples and for the incredible celebrations we have the privilege of bringing to life.
It was the wedding that shaped not only who we became as designers, but how we continue to approach and execute every wedding that follows.
