“I don’t want any fuss.”

It’s something we hear people say all the time when talking about what they would like when they die. But what does “no fuss” actually mean?

It doesn’t necessarily mean no funeral, no ceremony or no opportunity for family and friends to come together. Often, it simply means not wanting anything elaborate, expensive or dictated by convention.

There are many ways to create a meaningful farewell without following a traditional funeral format. From natural burial grounds and sustainable willow coffins to beautiful countryside venues where families can take their time and celebrate a life without feeling rushed, there are more choices than many people realise.

As an independent funeral director, Damon believes that taking the time to understand what someone really means by “I don’t want any fuss” is an important part of helping families create a farewell that feels right.

His latest guest article for whiteballoonfuneralhub looks this idea in more detail, and why sometimes “no fuss” doesn’t mean doing less – it simply means focusing on what matters most.
