It is with deep sadness that we announce Hoults House Play Village will be closing on Wednesday 25th February. We will be selling stock mainly furniture Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Message if you have any requests.
From the very beginning, it truly took a village to bring Hoults House to life. What started as an idea quickly became something so special thanks to the incredible support of our family, friends and neighbours — from helping build furniture and set up the space, to supporting our vision and helping shape what made us unique. Our staff old and present and our community are what made Hoults House what it was. There are little touches from everyone inside the walls.
Hoults House was created with one very special purpose: to support my brother James in gaining employment doing what he does best — making people smile, creating memories and simply being himself. Anyone who has met James knows how happy, kind and friendly he is. Unfortunately, due to his disabilities, he hasn’t always been given the opportunity to fully immerse himself in full-time employment and show the world just how capable he is. He truly has a heart of gold.
Although running Hoults House has been at a financial loss for us as a small family business, James has loved every single moment. The experience has been invaluable, and seeing him thrive has meant more than we can ever put into words. Sadly, as much as we wish money grew on trees, it doesn’t — and with heavy hearts, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close.
We would also like to thank some wonderful local businesses who supported us: Swinford Graphics for our signage, It’s Good to Chalk for our beautiful window displays, and of course The Ryemarket for allowing us to be a small part of its history.
Most importantly, thank you to every single family who brought their little ones to play, celebrated parties with us and created memories within our walls. We are heartbroken that our journey has been such a short one, but we hope that in the time we shared, we created special moments that will be remembered fondly.
