Today Metal music is considered to be only Heavy with no Light/Soft metal bands. When I grew up Heavy Metal had many sub genres but gigs were diverse and had a variety of bands. Metalicious includes Hard Rock bands that are also considered Metal.
Monsters of Rock was a hard rock and heavy metal music festival. It was originally held annually in Castle Donington, England, from 1980 to 1996, taking place every year except 1989 and 1993.
The Blues: influenced most early heavy metal bands.
Travelling Riverside Blues" is a blues song written by the bluesman Robert Johnson. He recorded it on June 20, 1937.

The devil aspect of Heavy Metal originated with blues legend Robert Johnson. Legend says that he sold his soul to the devil at a local crossroads in return for musical success.
