🥇🥊 GOLD FOR BLUE AT THE RIVIERA BOX CUP! 🥊🥇

A massive well done to Blue, coming away from the Riviera Box Cup 2026 with the GOLD medal! 🏆🥇

It wasn't quite the weekend we expected. Blue received a bye straight through to today's final and was ready and waiting to get in there and earn that gold inside the ring.
Unfortunately, the final couldn't go ahead. Blue weighed in at 84kg, while his opponent came in at 135kg — a difference of over 50kg.

We completely understand why the officials wouldn't allow the bout to happen. It wasn't just the huge difference in weight — Blue also had more bout experience, while the other lad was a zero-bout boxer. Put that difference in experience together with such a massive weight difference, and the officials had to put the safety of both boxers first.
We're gutted for Blue because he didn't travel all this way just to collect a medal — he came here wanting to fight. He trained hard for it, made the journey, weighed in and was ready to step through those ropes and do his job.
But that's boxing sometimes. You can only fight what's put in front of you, and on this occasion the officials made the right call.
So Blue still leaves the Riviera Box Cup 2026 as a GOLD MEDALLIST! 🥇🏆

There's a big difference between amateur boxing and professional boxing—but one thing they both have in common is hard work.

In amateur boxing, you've only got a few minutes to make your mark. Every second matters. There's no time to ease yourself into the fight. You need a high work rate, sharp reactions, good fitness and the determination to leave everything in the ring. Every round counts, and every punch can make the difference.

Professional boxing is a different challenge. With longer fights comes the need for patience, ring IQ, tactics and the ability to adapt as the contest unfolds. It's about managing the pace, making adjustments and breaking your opponent down over time.

At Jack Bishop's Gym, we're proud to be an amateur boxing club. Our job is to build strong foundations, teach the basics properly, develop confidence, discipline and respect, and help every boxer become the best version of themselves—whether they want to compete, get fit or simply challenge themselves.

🥊🎬 From the boxing gym to the film set.
A brilliant experience for Blue Hughes-Crown this weekend during the filming of Killer Bee.
Meeting cast members, spending time on set, and getting a glimpse behind the scenes of a major film production is something not many young boxers get the chance to do.
We're all proud of him and how well he represented the club.
