First of all, for all the boys having their first skills bouts and first times stepping out, I think every single one of them done amazing today. Proud of all of them.
First up we had Shay, who listened to everything he was told to do and carried it out perfectly. Really impressed with him and a great performance.
Then we had Teddy, who also done amazing. You could see the nerves were there in the first couple of rounds, which is completely normal for a first timer, but by the third round he settled right down, his confidence came through, and he really started letting his shots go and putting more into it. Really proud of the way he handled himself and pushed through the nerves.
After that we had Cole, who did exactly what he had to do and showed a lot of heart and effort in there. Another great performance.
Then we had Beau for his second proper bout. Personally, I reckon that bout was taken away from him, and a lot of people there were saying Beau won it on skill, movement, and the way he boxed. I thought he done enough to get the win, but that’s boxing sometimes. Either way, still very proud of Beau and the way he handled himself in there.
Lastly we had Wyatt, who listened well and gave it everything he had. Even though he was stopped in the third round, he still showed heart and courage getting in there.
Also a massive thank you to the referee, who done an amazing job throughout the day, especially with the skills bouts. Really good refereeing and making the boys feel comfortable and looked after in there.
And finally, a massive thank you to all the other clubs, coaches, boxers, and supporters that came to our home show today. There was some proper talent and brilliant boxing on display throughout the whole day, and every single boxer from every club done amazing and deserves respect for stepping through the ropes.
We’ve also had a lot of clubs offer to help out with sparring for the lads, which we really appreciate, and we’ll definitely be taking a lot of them offers up. That’s what boxing is all about — clubs helping each other and helping these young boxers improve and gain experience.
Keep an eye out for the future as well, because these boys will be coming back bigger, better, stronger, and more experienced every single time they step through those ropes.
Massive well done to every single one of the boys today. We’re looking forward to the massive future ahead for all of them and watching them continue to grow and improve at Jack Bishop Boxing Academy.
