A fabulous idea from a fellow celebrant to make you’re child’s naming ceremony extra special 🥰

Imagine giving your child a gift today they won’t open for another 18 years 🎁

Following on from my last post about a Naming Ceremony, the idea I loved the most is creating a time capsule for the child.

It could be a box filled with little pieces of their life, chosen by the people who love them most.

Family and friends could each add something personal:

💌 A letter telling them what they hope for their future
📸 A photograph or special memory
📝 A funny family story they might otherwise never remember
🎵 A favourite song from the time they were born
📰 A newspaper from the day of their Naming Ceremony
💰 A coin or note from the year they were named
🎨 A drawing from a brother or sister
👣 A handprint or footprint
❤️ A personal message, promise or piece of advice
⚽ A football shirt from the year they were born, saved for them to wear on their 18th birthday 🖤🤍

And perhaps one of the most special things of all…

💌 A letter from someone who loves them… perhaps someone who may not be there to celebrate their 18th birthday.

A grandparent, family member or special person could write a message for the child to open years later.

Words they may not fully understand today could become incredibly valuable when they are older.

It could even be:

🔮 Predictions about who they might become.

What will they love?
What will they be like at 18?
What might they achieve?
Where might life take them?

The box can then be sealed and kept safely until their 18th birthday.

And just imagine…

Eighteen years later, they open it.

They discover letters from people who loved them before they were old enough to remember. They see photographs, read messages, discover family stories and perhaps even laugh at everyone’s predictions about who they would become.

And amongst it all, they find a letter from someone special, their words still there, waiting for them.

A little snapshot of their world, captured on one very special day.

A gift from their past, waiting for them in their future. ❤️

This is just one of the many personal touches that can be included in a Naming Ceremony.

There’s no “right” way to do it. We can create something that is completely unique to your family and tells your story. 🌿

Well that was a busy end to the wedding season 🥵. 3 services in 5 days starting with the lovely Taylor and Tom at Skylark Country Club, then a new venue for me, The Bugle House for Victoria and Des’ special day and finishing with the wedding of Laura and Tom, a fellow Rock Choir members daughter at Clock Barn. Lots of laughs, tears and smiles for three lovely couples 💝

Do look at Section 6 in particular as it discusses independent celebrants.

Civil Ceremonies and the Wedding Celebrancy Commission are urging independent celebrants across England and Wales to seize this pivotal moment and make their voices heard.

Comprised of the leading independent celebrant training organisations in the UK, the WCC has been at the forefront of championing independent celebrants to reach this milestone. They are delighted that this pivotal point has been reached.

Celebrants are urged to put in a full, well considered response to the questions asked in the document and to inform their local MP of the consultation and ask for their support.
