In 2012, at 51(!) I made the jump, became self-employed, and set up my own business as ‘cake baker and flower arranger!’
Not that any of this is new to me really. I’ve been a qualified florist my whole adult life and have created modern and traditional bridal bouquets and posies, funeral flowers and stand alone arrangements for more than 30 years. I’ve turned my hand at lots of creative and craft
activities over the decades (my kids always loved their Liquorice Allsort jumpers), and have recently rekindled my love for baking.
‘Homemade’ is at the heart of what I do, so from my kitchen at home in (sometimes) sunny South Shields, I create traditional cakes – from lemon drizzle to walnut and cute cupcakes of all descriptions – you’ll regularly find me at fairs and fetes across the region.
