💓 A beautiful memorial for Sue 🤍🍷

Sue died earlier this year in France, where she had a small private cremation with her son Louis by her side. This memorial in Shropshire gave family and friends the chance to come together properly, share stories, laugh, cry, raise a glass, and say goodbye in their own way.

And that’s the lovely thing about memorials… there’s no rush.

Guests arrived from 2pm at Oswestry Cricket Club, but we didn’t begin the service until 2.30, giving everyone time to grab a drink, mingle, reconnect, and share memories of Sue before we formally started. We invited guests to write down memories and stories for the family too, which brought so many smiles and tears throughout the afternoon.

The service itself was personal, relaxed, heartfelt, and full of Sue’s character; red lipstick, red wine, laughter, music, animals, France, family, and all the small details that made her her.

We ended with everyone raising a glass of her favourite red wine and a final “Cheers to Sue.” ❤️

Memorials are becoming more and more popular, and for good reason. Some families choose a private cremation first, some opt for a direct cremation, and others simply want more freedom, more time, and a less formal goodbye that truly reflects the person they love.

There is no right way to say goodbye; only the way that feels right for your family.

💓 Oh Happy Day 💓

On Saturday I caught up with A&A for the final time before their big day… and what a glorious time we had

I demand that this is how all meeting should be from now on…

Great food, amazing company, sunshine, and children playing harmoniously 😮 ‘Twas almost too good to be true…

But it was true because these guys light up every room and ooze happiness and fun, so I know this was just a taste of how amazing their wedding day is going to be 💃

12 sleeps guys 🤩

I CANNOT WAIT to share their beautiful location and venue and all their other surprises… but for now you’ll have to wait

My little assistant had the best time at yesterday!

It was lovely to catch up with couples, meet new ones, and show people around this lovely venue

This is your reminder that funerals, memorials and celebrations of life follow the same rules as weddings and naming ceremonies - there are no rules!

Let’s put together a service that truly honours your loved one and is a true reflection of who they were and how they lived

Here’s my dad’s grandchildren at his funeral all wearing a Manchester United football kit. 7 of them aged between 2 and 14 remembering their grandad in a way he would have absolutely loved!

Everyone else wore traditional black with a splash of red (even the City fans joined in!) 🌹

Of course it is a sad day, and most likely there will be tears. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be joy and laughter as well as we look back on a lifetime of love and memories ♥️

Please don’t feel you have to have a serious and mournful service if that doesn’t feel true to your person

Though I love traditional too 🙏

(And as an Independent Celebrant we can include religion as well if you’d like to)

What I’m saying is, we can craft the most perfect, individual ceremony to honour your loved one in a way that feels completely ‘them’, and it’s ok to laugh, and cry. And everything in between.

Grief is the price we pay for love ❤️

Let’s give them the send off they deserve
