May is Leaf Month on the Nordic Animist Calendar. I just love this depiction of Freyr by Swedish illustrator Ludvig Levin, which sums up the meaning of the month rather well I feel 🌿

For all my Gaelic, Celtic and pagan friends as this night is celebrated with the dowsing of the hearth fire, celebrating the turning of the sun and relighting the home fires from the Bealltain fire 🔥
Norse, Heathen, Asatru and Animist do not tend to have this as a calendar event but in modern times now join in with fire, drinking and feasting.

(The Beltane Blessing)
Bless, O threefold true and bountiful,
Myself, my spouse, my children.
Bless everything within my dwelling and in my possession,
Bless the kine and crops, the flocks and corn,
From Samhain Eve to Beltane Eve,
With goodly progress and gentle blessing,
From sea to sea, and every river mouth,
From wave to wave, and base of waterfall.

Be the Maiden, Mother, and Crone,
Taking possession of all to me belonging.
Be the Horned God, the Wild Spirit of the Forest,
Protecting me in truth and honor.
Satisfy my soul and shield my loved ones,
Blessing every thing and every one,
All my land and my surroundings.
Great gods who create and bring life to all,
I ask for your blessings on this day of fire.

It's that time of year again... to reset the runes and primstav on the Walpurgis Hearga (altar) for Beltane and The Wellderness Beltane Fire and Feast Festival.
Smoke to cleanse and some amber liquor for the gods as they are invoked.

My tree ally is the great western hemlock which, among other things, spiritually stands for grace, resilience and adaptability 🌿 I always carry some of her with me and she is always in any water I use for blessing.
