Hebrews 3 - A Strong Warning to Holy Brothers and Sisters
This is one book that is hard to read in parts. The beginning of chapter 3 forces one to go back to the end of chapter 2 to understand why it starts with a conclusion word "Therefore".

Chapter 3 enjoins us to fix our eyes on Yeshua Ha’Maschiach whom it calls ‘Apostle" and “High Priest" of our confession. It will go on to make the point that Yeshua is much greater than Moses even though both are praised and exalted for their faithfulness to God’s mission. Firstly, drawing from Numbers 12v7 it notes that Moses was called a faithful servant. It thus argues that the Son of God would be greater than a servant in the house. The Son owns the house while a servant is just a steward. Secondly, it says God was the builder of the house that Moses and Yeshua were put in charge of. But Christ being God becomes the builder and hence greater than Moses who was not the builder of the house he was put in charge of.

It then says we are the house that God is building in Christ. From this point onwards, the focus turns to our need to hold on in faith till the end because this is how we become part of God’s building. This focus will continue all the way into chapter 4v13. The warning to stay in faith in Christ is very strong. Quoting Psalms 95 it warns hearers not to harden their hearts. It reflects on those who hardened their hearts in the desert pointing out that God even swore that they would never enter His rest. And they all perished because of one sin: UNBELIEF.

So we need to encourage each other today. Because God will destroy those who accommodate unbelief and harden their hearts after coming to Christ and became part of the church. Just as those people in the desert came out of Egypt with Moses with great power, you can be baptized, be a church member but eventually fail to enter the rest because of unbelief and a heart hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. God SWORE they will never enter His rest.
