🌿 Inspired by the natural movement, texture and effortless abundance of prairie planting, we’ll be creating a stunning floral arrangement that celebrates flowers as they grow in nature. Think clouds of delicate cosmos dancing amongst graceful snapdragons, airy limonium weaving between textured grasses, and seasonal blooms arranged to mimic the way they naturally grow together in the landscape. Unlike a traditional meadow arrangement, this flower arrangement class takes a more natural approach, focusing on the gentle rhythm found in prairie gardens. The result is a floral arrangement that feels light, feminine and beautifully organic, as though it has gathered itself naturally from the garden. We’ll be working with a carefully selected palette of soft pastel flowers and, wherever possible, locally grown blooms from our cutting patch and trusted British growers. Expect plenty of texture, movement and those little seasonal details that make flowers feel truly special. Throughout the workshop, we’ll guide you through the mechanics, flower placement and design principles behind prairie-style floristry, helping you create an arrangement that’s both impactful and beautifully balanced.

The majority of flowers used by florists in the UK are sourced through the Dutch flower auctions and markets, where growers from the Netherlands and around the world supply an incredible range of flowers and foliage. These flowers are often grown to exceptionally high standards, offering fantastic stem lengths, excellent quality and reliable availability throughout the year. It’s a system that allows florists and flower arrangers to access beautiful blooms whatever the season.

However, those flowers do come at a cost. Alongside the financial investment, there are transportation miles, packaging considerations and the reality that some flowers have travelled a long way before arriving in a bouquet or arrangement.

That’s why, alongside sourcing through our usual suppliers, we’ve become increasingly passionate about sourcing not only from other local Bedfordshire flower growers but also growing our own flowers and making the most of what’s naturally in season here in Bedfordshire.

For us, it’s never been about choosing one over the other. It’s about finding the right balance — combining the quality and variety available through professional flower markets with the beauty, sustainability and character that comes from flowers grown much closer to home.

In fact, our own cutting patch started for a very practical reason: to save a few pennies in the business and supplement the flowers we use in flower workshops and demonstrations. To have a better understanding of seasonality and now a huge appreciation for Mother Nature

🌿 This one is really about the garden at its peak — and the simple joy of gathering what’s been grown with care. On 11th July at 10am, we’ll be working straight from our own cutting patch garden, where everything has been grown from seed and chosen specifically for this moment in the season. It’s not a standard mix of flowers — it changes, it shifts, and it reflects what is naturally at its best right now. That’s exactly what makes it so special. You’ll be creating a hand-gathered bouquet, learning how to respond to what’s in front of you rather than forcing anything too perfect or overly structured. It’s about shape, movement, and that slightly unpolished beauty that comes when you let flowers do what they naturally want to do. If you have your own garden flowers or foliage at home, you’re very welcome to bring them along and weave them into your bouquet. We love that idea — it makes each arrangement even more personal, and no two will ever be the same. This workshop is a slower, more considered kind of making. Less about “following instructions”, more about noticing what’s in front of you and learning how to bring it together in a way that feels natural and honest.

🌿 Join us for our Make a Summer Dried Flower Wreath workshop, where you’ll create a beautifully light and airy wreath inspired by the textures of wild summer meadows. This isn’t a traditional flower-packed wreath — instead, we’ll focus on a soft, natural style using delicate layers of twigs, grasses, and carefully chosen dried flowers. You’ll begin by creating a natural wreath base using a mix of textured twigs and gorgeous grasses. From there, we’ll add beautiful dried summer elements such as poppy heads, strawflowers, limonium, craspedia, lunaria and other delicate seasonal blooms to create a wreath that feels organic, feminine and effortlessly stylish. You’re welcome to choose from a midi sized wreath creation or a maxi sized wreath creation when you book.

🌿Spend a slow summer evening surrounded by flowers, creativity, and the simple joy of making something by hand. Hosted by Floral Barn Studio, this peaceful flower pressing workshop is all about preserving the beauty of the season and turning delicate blooms into lasting pieces of floral art. You’ll learn the traditional art of flower pressing, including which flowers work best, how to press and preserve them successfully at home, and how to care for your pressed flowers once dried. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to get hands-on, experiment with seasonal materials, and enjoy the mindful process of working slowly and creatively with nature. Using a beautiful selection of pre-pressed flowers, you’ll then create your own framed floral artwork and decorative floral pieces to take home with you — perfect for displaying, gifting, or simply enjoying long after the workshop has finished. This workshop is ideal for anyone who loves flowers, crafting, gardening, or simply carving out a couple of hours to do something calm and creative for themselves. No experience is needed. 🌿 This Saturday!!
If you love having people over, setting the table, and creating those little moments that make a dinner feel special, this one’s for you. Join us for our Dinner Party Flower Arrangement Class and learn how to create a beautifully relaxed, garden-inspired arrangement in a footed bowl — the kind of piece that quietly steals the show in the centre of your table. We’ll be working with a soft, neutral palette of whites, creams and peaches, using seasonal flowers alongside favourites like roses, lisianthus and eucalyptus to create something that feels effortless, elegant, and completely at home in your space. This class is all about showing you how to create flowers that feel natural and unforced, but still have that “how have you made this look so good?” effect when your guests walk in. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, celebrating something special, or just want your table to feel a little more considered, these are the kinds of arrangements you’ll come back to again and again. We’ll guide you step by step through the process — from mechanics and placement to shape, movement and balance — so you leave not just with a beautiful arrangement, but with the confidence to recreate the look at home.

🌿 A 360 moment 🌿 full read of this months blog via the website 🌿
As you may know, I’ve been on a bit of a “grow your own cutting patch” journey over the last few years.

Initially, it was a way to reduce costs within the business by growing flowers and foliage from seed for gift bouquets, workshops, demonstrations and seasonal displays. At the same time, I was looking for ways to save on the food shop at home with a fruit-and-veg-loving toddler who seemed permanently hungry.

What I didn’t realise was how quickly growing would become part of our family life.

Looking back, perhaps it was inevitable.

From a very young age, I was surrounded by people who grew things. My Grandad Donald worked a council farm in Hertfordshire, growing potatoes, peas, cabbage and Brussels sprouts. In his farmhouse garden he grew rhubarb and runner beans for the family. Some of my fondest memories are helping him dig up potatoes from the ground — something I now do with my daughter, Rayah.
After retiring from farming, Grandad Donald became a gardener around the village, and I still remember the unmistakable smell of marigolds planted throughout the borders he cared for.

On the other side of my family, Grandad Brian was equally passionate about gardening. Every year without fail, he grew tomatoes in abundance and took immense pride in his garden. You would never find a w**d in sight if Grandad Brian was around.

Looking back, those early years have shaped how I see gardening now both as a commercial flower grower and at home with my family.
